      Overview:

      The Engagement and Development Specialist is responsible for building and strengthening Apalachee Center’s visibility, relationships and grassroots support throughout the Big Bend region. This role focuses on coordinating community outreach efforts, cultivating partnerships with local organizations and supporting fundraising initiatives that engage the public. The ideal candidate is a proactive communicator with strong organizational skills and a passion for community service and mental health advocacy.

      Essential/Core Job-Specific Duties And Responsibilities

      Partner Relations & Collaboration

      • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key community partner organizations, agencies, and institutions. Maintain and grow relationships with current agency partners while actively seeking new partnership opportunities
      • Schedule and participate in meetings with partners to discuss referrals, collaborations, co-hosted events, and strategic opportunities.
      • Identify and pursue new partnership opportunities that align with Apalachee Center’s mission and services.

      Small-Dollar Fundraising & Community Campaigns

      • Plan and execute small-scale fundraising initiatives such as restaurant share nights, peer-to-peer social media campaigns, and community-based fundraising drives.
      • Collaborate with the communications team to promote campaigns and engage the public in giving opportunities.
      • Track donor engagement and provide reports on campaign performance and participation.

      Support for Annual Fundraising Event

      • Assist with planning, logistics, and community engagement elements of Apalachee Center’s annual signature fundraising event.
      • Recruit and coordinate volunteers, manage outreach to community sponsors or in-kind donors, and support marketing and promotional efforts.
      • Participate in event-day execution and post-event follow-up.

      Community Outreach & Tabling Coordination

      • Schedule and coordinate staff participation at community events, health fairs, and outreach tabling opportunities.
      • Maintain a calendar of upcoming community events and ensure appropriate staffing, materials, and logistics are prepared.
      • Track participation, outcomes, and impact of community presence efforts.

      Qualifications


      • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, marketing, nonprofit management, or related field preferred
      • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in community engagement, event planning, nonprofit fundraising, or related roles
      • Experience working with underserved populations and community organizations is highly valued
      • Knowledge of the Big Bend region and local networks is a plus

      Licensure or Certification:

      • Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license
      • Maintain authorization as an approved Center vehicle driver.
