Demonstrate competence in engineering concepts, theories, and principles, combining them with business understanding to design, document, and implement clean and robust solutions to complex business problems.

Communicate effectively and efficiently with teams, business partners, and leadership.
Demonstrate engineering understanding of concepts, tools, features, and functions.

Maintain a high bar for code quality, testing, and automation while finding opportunities to improve continuously.
Contribute to design and code reviews, ensuring the team ships high-quality, scalable, maintainable, and well-tested code.
Work closely with your peers and seniors to help the team achieve its goals.
Provide on-call support and participate in Root Cause Analysis to identify ways to improve reliability.
Bachelor’s degree in CS, Engineering, or equivalent work experience
0-2 years professional experience preferred, in engineering or related field (may be recent grad)
Familiarity with basics of instrumentation
Relevant practice-specific certifications
Strong object-oriented design skills
Proficiency in Java programming language
Knowledge of other programming languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript, C#, Scala) is a plus
Knowledge of data structures and distributed systems
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of Cloud technologies, proficiency with AWS a plus
Knowledge of React UI framework is a plus. Experience with databases.

Job Description
As an Engineer 1, you will be a key member of a team of Nordstrom Technology professionals that applies scientific, mathematical and social principles to design, build, and maintain technology products, devices, systems and solutions. These technology products and solutions provide amazing customer experiences while meeting the needs of the business. You will work collaboratively with engineers, program managers, and product managers.
This role is considered hybrid. Candidates must be willing to work in office at Nordstrom's headquarters in Seattle, WA a minimum of 3 days/week.

Pay Range Details
The pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different in other locations.
Washington: $88,500 - $162,500 Annually This position may be eligible for performance-based incentives/bonuses. Benefits include 401k, medical/vision/dental/life/disability insurance options, PTO accruals, Holidays, and more.
