      Please not the physical work location for this position is Duke Energy's W.S. Lee Station Power Plant located in Belton, South Carolina. Greenville, South Carolina is the largest city located near this work location. Duke Energy will offer relocation assistance if you are selected for the role and do not live within a reasonable commute of the work location.

      The W.S. Lee Station Power Plant is a new natural gas plant serving 2.5 million customers. W.S. Lee Station Power Plant includes a new 750-megawatt combined-cycle natural gas plant, a 180-megawatt natural gas boiler and two dual-fuel 42-megawatt simple-cycle units. Combined, the station generates about 1,000 megawatts of energy.

      The work schedule options are DAY SHIFTS AND FLEXIBLE. The individual selected for this position will have the option to work Monday - Friday (5-8s) DAY SHIFT or Monday - Thursday (4-10s) DAY SHIFT

      Completion of Educational Requirements: You must successfully complete and obtain your degree prior to your scheduled start date.

      RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • Support the electrical projects and troubleshooting needs of the plant

      • Provide electrical engineering technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis, and resolution of routine problems

      • Enhance electrical engineering knowledge base and skillset

      • Assist in the accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities under the guidance of higher-level employees

      • Prepare/Maintain thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches associated with the resolution of routine technical problems

      • Possess knowledge of electrical concepts, practices, and procedures

      • Conduct basic engineering studies requiring little evaluation or ingenuity

      • Develop positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities

      • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills

      • Support the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally

      REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ENGINEER LEVEL I POSITION:

      • High School/GED

      • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program

      • In lieu of Bachelor of Science degree, Master’s degree in Engineering

      DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

      • Electrical Engineering Degree

      • Additional years of Electrical experience

      • Experience in various DCS Platforms such as Emerson Ovation and Siemens T3000

      • Ability to work with PLC controls systems

      • Experience with data links/interface devices such as MODBUS, PLCs, RTAC, TCP/IP, etc.

      • Understanding of basic practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations, and preparing and presenting recommendations

      • Ability to work with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds

      • Passing grade on the Engineering Fundamentals Exam

      • Understanding of basic principles of project management.

      • Experience in the utility industry

      • Good written and oral communication skills

      • Ability to analyze processes and equipment through historical data systems

      • Computer skills including Microsoft Applications and Maximo (maintenance management system)

      WORKING CONDITIONS:

      • Valid Drivers License required

      • Onsite Mobility Classification – Work will be performed at a company facility.

      • The work schedule options are DAY SHIFTS AND FLEXIBLE. The individual selected for this position will have the option to work Monday - Friday (5-8s) DAY SHIFT or Monday - Thursday (4-10s) DAY SHIFT

      • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check, drug test, Audiometric and Respirator Clearance Examination

      • Operate equipment

      • Perform work in a power plant and office environment

      • Required to observe and work in all areas of the generating facility, which are power plant industrial environments with potential exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust, and humidity

      Compensation Package: Compensation for the role will depend on several factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience.
