      Job Description

      THE POSITION
      The Field Service Engineer is responsible for performing on-site installations, servicing, and repairs of various equipment and systems. They investigate and approve the operational quality of system equipment and instruct customers on the operation and maintenance of the system. The engineer serves as a company liaison with customers on administrative and technical matters for assigned projects and conducts on-site installations of the full range of Thermo Fisher systems and their associated options.


      RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES INCLUDE:
      - Conducted on-site installation of complex equipment and followed testing procedures to ensure proper working order.

      - Conduct on-site scheduled planned maintenance visits.

      - Provide solving and repair support for customers and colleagues.

      - Cultivate and develop positive working relationships with customers, system users, and company personnel.

      - Travel, often on short notice, to customer sites to resolve problems or support other field service personnel.

      - Complete and submit field service reports.

      - Provide training for customers and users on system maintenance.

      - Provide feedback to product quality teams.

      - Contribute to updating and correcting various Thermo Fisher system documentation.

      - Provide recommendations for various reports, including identifying and isolating unique problems with the system.

      - Act as a domain expert and resource for training.


      REQUIREMENTS
      This position is ideal for an expert service engineer looking to be part of a dynamic team and be exposed to various customer application areas.

      The successful candidate will possess the following combination of education and experience:

      - Typically requires a university degree or equivalent experience in electronic system repair.

      - Typically requires 2-5 years of hands-on technical experience installing, solving, repairing, and calibrating complex analysis tools such as SEM, TEM, FIB, or similar systems.

      - Experience solving and repairing ultra-high vacuum and high-voltage systems is highly desired.

      - Ability to effectively deal with customers.

      - Excellent interpersonal communication skills.

      - Proven ability to repair complex systems and subsystems down to the component level.

      - Proficiency in Windows software environments.

      - Ability to read and interpret schematics.
