      Job Summary

      Dominion Energy's Bath County Power Station, a pumped storage hydro station, in (Warm Springs VA) seeks a candidate for an experienced Engineer / Senior Engineer (Electrical) to take a lead role responsible for providing engineering and technical support to the station. Core responsibilities include but are not limited to: Root cause analysis and problem solving; equipment condition assessment (vibration, oil analysis, etc.); equipment specification development and review; troubleshooting of electrical systems and programmable logic controllers; management of station breaker monitoring program; review and issuing Digging, Drilling or Cutting Permits; overseeing and interacting with contractors and consultants; perform capital project review; performing generator and equipment inspections; and performing other duties as assigned. This posting is for one position, which will be filled at the level (Engineer or Senior Engineer) commensurate with the successful candidate's experience and skill level.

      Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

      Engineer:

      • 2+ years of relevant engineering experience
      • Knowledge and application of engineering theories, principles, concepts, and fundamentals
      • Must have a valid driver's license
      • Knowledge of business/financial and contractual matters
      • Developmental experience in a professional engineering position
      • Competency in applying engineering principles, fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures
      • Understanding and application of configuration management
      • Planning, organizational, and project management skills
      • Ability to develop and exercise leadership skills
      • Knowledge and proficiency in the use of computer software to assist in preparation of reports, presentations, database development and data review
      • Knowledge of plant electrical distribution equipment, generator equipment, relay and motor control systems, battery and uninterruptible power systems, SF6 breakers, and frequency converter
      • Must be able to analyze problems and provide solutions (demonstrated results)
      • Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices
      • Must be able to work safely in a plant environment including confined spaces, around water, at elevated heights, and in underground tunnels



      Senior Engineer:

      • 5+ years of relevant engineering experience
      • Full knowledge of engineering theories and principles
      • Must have a valid driver's license
      • Knowledge of business/financial and contractual matters
      • Skilled in advanced techniques and modification of theories, precepts, and practices
      • Strong leadership skills with proven ability to serve as team project lead
      • Strong personal computer skills
      • In-depth knowledge of various computer applications, with the ability to perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs
      • Strong planning, organizational, and project management skills
      • Knowledge and proficiency in the use of computer software to assist in preparation of reports, presentations, database development and data review
      • Strong leadership skills with proven ability to serve as team leader
      • Strong written and oral communication skills (includes technical writing)
      • Knowledge of plant electrical distribution equipment, generator equipment, relay and motor control systems, battery and uninterruptible power systems, SF6 breakers, and frequency converter
      • Must be able to analyze complex problems and provide solutions (demonstrated results)
      • Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices
      • Must be able to work safely in a plant environment including confined spaces, around water, at elevated heights, and in underground tunnels

      Education Requirements

      Minimum of bachelor's degree in engineering (engineering technology degrees are not acceptable for this position).

      Strongly Preferred: Electrical Engineering

      REQUIRED ENGINEERING CRITERIA:

      For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met:
      • Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an ABET accredited engineering program based on the year that the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
      • Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or
      • Possess a 4-year engineering degree from a non-ABET accredited program and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
      • Possess a 4-year degree in Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET

      Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

      We prefer (but do not require) candidates to have a current valid Professional Engineer license and the ability to obtain the PE license by reciprocity in Virginia and other states where Dominion Energy operates.
