      Technical Operations/Maintenance

      Technical Operations include the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of our aircraft. This includes aircraft maintenance technicians, engineers, planners, ground equipment and facilities teams, supply chain teams, and more.

      Key Responsibilities:

      United’s Powerplant Team currently has an opening for an Engineer.

      Powerplant engineers manage the engines on airplanes and will study, analyze, and seek solutions to problems related to the design, operation, maintenance, performance, modification, or repair of engines, and their components. Use a structured, logical, and analytical approach to problem-solving. Defines maintenance program, configuration, and serviceability criteria ensuring safe and legal operations. Analyze and implement regulatory requirements. Evaluate the effects of modifications or new equipment on reliability and performance. Evaluates the benefits of the cost impact of a fleet decision to ensure an optimum balance of cost, asset utilization, quality, and reliability. Author, design, validate, and lead projects. Provide on-site technical support for line and base operations. Communicate and collaborate with internal and external organizations regarding specific engine and component issues.

      Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

      • Coordinate and manage priorities to meet project results
      • Maintenance program optimization
      • Reliability analysis and improvements
      • Airworthiness Directives compliance
      • Support commercial projects
      • Assist in engine troubleshooting
      • Monitor engine on-wing performance to initiate reliability improvements as needed
      • Interdepartmental coordination to implement projects
      • Repairs and/or modifications must also be evaluated to ensure no adverse effect on ETOPS, RVSM, CAT III, etc.
      • Provides technical engineering services, recommendations, and troubleshooting support to other divisions and personnel involved with aircraft and engine systems
      • Represent and participate in industry activities with FAA, NTSB, A4A, and other external and internal organizations for engines

      What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

      • B.S Degree in Engineering, related technical field, or equivalent experience
      • Engineering abilities that can be applied to a range of aircraft systems, maintenance programs, and engines
      • For service engineering positions, these same technical skills are applied toward operational issues versus project-specific work
      • Ability to analyze sophisticated technical issues, detailed level of project management for regulatory compliance modifications. Excellent verbal and technical writing skills needed
      • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
      • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
      • Reliable, punctual attendance is a crucial function of the position

      What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):

      • Boeing /Airbus Structures I, Airframe/Powerplant License or E license
      • Maintenance check engineering experience on Boeing/Airbus aircraft
      • Knowledge of FARS (especially 145, 25, and 121)
      • Strong skills in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
