      Who we’re looking for

      Toyota’s Powertrain Calibration & Evaluation – 1 (PCE1) Department is looking for a passionate and highly-motivated Engine Calibration Engineer. The primary responsibility of this role is to calibrate the engine control systems to meet Toyota, regulatory, and customer requirements. Reporting to a Senior Manager, the person in this role will support the PCE1 department's objective to calibrate world class powertrains in America.

      What you’ll be doing

      • Execute engine control development activities as a member of a diverse calibration team to meet requirements for North America and global markets.

      • Complete engine calibration and testing in accordance with procedures to meet regulations and performance targets (emissions, fuel economy, OBD, and ongoing production quality).

      • Continually improve software and calibration quality for Toyota vehicles.

      • Data collection, data analysis, and reporting.

      • Generate and present technical reports on a regular basis.

      • Interface with other engine calibration functions and vehicle departments.

      • Develop new procedures and tools for testing, data analysis, and calibration.

      • Build successful relationships with related vehicle departments.

      What you bring

      • A Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

      • Understanding of internal combustion engine theory/practice

      • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink/C or other programming language

      • Experience investigating technical issues and creating technical solutions

      • Self-motivated and responsible with willingness to work overtime to accomplish goals (up to 20%)

      • Knowledge of fundamental mechanical engineering principles along with analytical and problem-solving mindset

      • Excellent driving record

      • Experience mentoring/developing new engineers in a professional environment

      What you may bring

      • Experience with Emission, bench, drivability or OBD calibration in hybrid powertrain

      • Understanding of emissions regulations for US and other markets

      • Advanced engineering degree

      • Hands-on experience working on vehicles either through SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers), previous co-op, or similar experience

      • Experience performing OBD or emission development for markets other than the US (Japan, Europe, China, etc.)

      • Experience with other programming languages such as Python, VBA, etc. (Asset if any)

      • Japanese language skill
