This team works 24/7 with 12 hour shifts. Employees typically work a 4 days on, 4 days off. REQUIRED - Shift rotations between days and nights occur every 4 months (5:30 PM - 5:30 AM or 5:30 AM - 5:30 PM with shift differential pay.
U.S. citizenship or current authorization to work in the U.S. is required, and no current or future work authorization sponsorship available.
- Focuses on providing Engineering support and expertise to the Southwest Technical Operations organization. Oversees specialized aircraft, engine, and component repairs, modifications, and troubleshooting accomplished on the Southwest fleet.
- Evaluate and process manufacturer’s service documents (Service Bulletins, Service Letters, etc.), regulatory requirements (Airworthiness Directives, Notice of Proposed Rule Making, Code of Federal Regulations, etc.)
- Develop and substantiate in-house repairs and modifications for implementation into the SWA maintenance program
- Develop and substantiate reliability improvements through research, root-cause analysis, and implementation through corrective action plans
- Collaborate with other departments such as Planning, Supply Chain, Quality, Production and other Stakeholders for assigned projects to develop project implementation plans
- Troubleshoot and resolve in-service issues
- Perform activities related to various types of cost/benefit analysis
- Develop Engineering documentation to support resolution of in-service issues
- Participate in and coordinate activities related to OEM, Supplemental Type Certificate Holder, and PMA products
- May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders
- Knowledge of FAR's with a strong emphasis on Part 25 requirements and Part 121 operations
- Knowledge of Computer-Aided Design (CAD)
- Knowledge of technical data and mechanical operations
- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology, including applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various airline support services
- Skilled in collecting, organizing, visualizing, and assimilating technical data in preparation for written response to SWA Leadership or regulatory authorities
- Skilled in common business computer applications
- Skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
- Skilled in communicating effectively inside and outside the engineering organization
- Ability to seek opportunities and assignments which stimulate thought and provide challenges to develop and grow professionally
- Ability to work under tight time constraints to accomplish assignments and projects
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
- Intermediate level experience, fully functioning broad knowledge in:
- Airline/OEM/MRO engineering
- N/A
- Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
- Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
- Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
- Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
- Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines

This role works with various Teams and Leaders to help perform Dallas Heavy Maintenance Activities, which includes Shop and Component Support. They’ll also support the AOG Team, which covers 24/7 to keep our operation running, with Safety as our top priority. This Engineer is excited to join our Technical Operations Department and work collaboratively with some of the best Mechanics and Engineers in the industry, where they’ll have the opportunity to continually learn and grow in their expertise on our all-Boeing 737 fleet – the largest Boeing 737 fleet in the world.

Competitive market salary from $80,350 per year to $89,300 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
