      Department 483, Waterfront Procurement Support, is looking for highly motivated engineers to support their Strategic Sourcing initiative to outsource structural products to Electric Boat’s steel fabrication suppliers. Candidates will be responsible for understanding technical requirements for a variety of structural products, including decks, tanks, foundations, and stowages, and utilizing this knowledge to develop manufacturing specifications to be provided to Electric Boat’s supply base for products we are tasked to outsource.

      Candidates will also be responsible for managing the supplier and leading the project from Purchase Order placement through delivery to Electric Boat. Managing the project and supplier will require development of Statement of Work (SOW) documents, analysis of supplier proposals, an intimate understanding and tracking of key project milestones and the supplier’s schedule (IMS), on-site visits to interact with the supplier’s management team, and tracking schedule and performance.

      Selected candidates will demonstrate strong project management skills and the ability to work under minimal supervision and in a team environment. Candidates must have proficient written and verbal communication skills, as daily tasks consist of working with suppliers along with various internal organizations such as Purchasing, Supplier Quality, Operations, Design, Planning, Materials Services, and other Engineering departments.

      This position may require occasional business travel.

      Electric Boat offers Flexible Work Arrangements that allows some work to be performed remotely and at home. This varies from position to position based on the amount of classified material the department interacts with, as well as a few other variables.       Qualifications

      Required:

      • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or related technical Bachelor of Science degree
      • 0-4 years experience

      Preferred:

      • Knowledge of steel design and manufacture.
      • Project Management experience, including managing cost, schedule, and quality/performance of task.

      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
      • Motivated, performance driven individual with strong leadership skills
      • Ability to function independently as required
      • Ability to work in a cross functional team including all levels of Management
      • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, with consistent attention to detail
      • Proficiency with MS Office Products, including Project (to develop project schedules)
      • Respected individual with a proven track record of achievement
