- Manage a multi-disciplinary design team for transportation infrastructure projects from conceptual engineering through final design and construction support.
- Lead coordination with clients and key stakeholders.
- Oversee and guide the track design team.
- Assist the Project Manager in developing and managing scopes, schedules, and budgets.
- Oversee track alignment design using AutoCAD Civil3D or MicroStation ORD.
- Experience with mainline track alignment, yards, and trackwork construction.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in rail track alignment designs.

Engineering Design Manager – Rail & Transit – Oakland, California
Opportunity:
Parsons is hiring an experienced Design Manager to support our Bay Area transit and rail projects.
We provide engineering and design services across North America, including projects in Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Toronto, New York, Baltimore, and Honolulu. Our teams utilize full 3D models for innovative, sustainable solutions that reduce traffic congestion, improve air quality, and ensure safe, reliable transit for commuters.
This role is based in Oakland, California, with a hybrid remote work setup (working from home 2-3 days per week).
Responsibilities:
Requirements:
A 4-year Engineering degree and a minimum of 15+ years of track design engineering experience for large-scale rail transit systems.
Experience with light or heavy rail track systems.
Experience with California Public Utilities Commission is desirable but not required.

Salary Range: $128,700 - $231,700
