      I. Job Summary
      This position requires an engineer with experience in the environmental and solid waste industry. The ideal candidate will possess superior project management experience, with an emphasis on managing multi-discipline engineering design projects. You will be directly responsible for managing teams of design engineering consultants, coordinating with process equipment vendors, and coordinating with internal operations departments, for successful design completions. You will be continually challenged to use your knowledge and skills to advance WM’s status as the leader and innovator in the landfill RNG space.

      II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
      To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

      • Engages, directs, and manages professional consulting firms that perform a variety of design tasks for solid waste facilities, such as initial design preliminary evaluations, engineered construction drawings from conception through Record Drawings and all phases in between, ancillary engineering efforts like surveying or geotechnical report coordination, Pre-Engineered Metal Building (PEMB) coordination, permitting and construction support. Will be responsible for the final work product.
      • Leads the selection of engineering teams for projects to which you are assigned and work with supply chain and procurement to facilitate the required contracts to engage those required engineering entities. Understands the overall project design budget, and how each contracted design consultant entity plays within the overall design budget.
      • Act as the primary point of contact for WMRE’s design team during the design process, directly interfacing with the entire team of contracted engineering consultants, and forming the primary point of contact between the engineering design team and the WMRE project stakeholders.
      • Maintains a strong working relationship with Authorities having Jurisdiction (AHJ’s) and serve as a direct line of communication on permitting matters between AHJ’s and project design submissions. This may include representing WM in permit meetings, hearings, and site inspections. Act as a professional representative for WM as a community liaison, at technical conferences and other forums
      • Actively manages and tracks capital budgets for engineering and design projects and report to local management and corporate using Company procedures.

      • Collaborates with other professionals and subject matter experts within WM to provide innovative, cost-effective engineering solutions to identified or potential operational, environmental, and compliance issues at existing RNG sites, or future RNG projects. Provide technical expertise and direction to management and other functional areas such as finance, legal and safety to present a clear path to resolution.
      • Work to continually improve the Design Management process, though better understanding of WMRE design concepts, knowledge of our own Intellectual Property and design database, and striving to incorporate lessons learned into future project designs.
      • Assists in training and provide mentorship or supervision of new WM Design Managers as needed.

      III. Supervisory Responsibilities
      Functioning as the team lead on various projects is inherent to the position.

      IV. Qualifications
      The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.

      A. Education and Experience

      • Education: Bachelors Degree (accredited) in Engineering.
      • Experience: Five (5) years of related experience (in addition to education requirements).

      B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements

      • None required.

      C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required

      • Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
      • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time, including travel to remote locations.
      • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact professionally with a variety of audiences.
      • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
      • Knowledge of environmental regulations, including solid waste, air, storm water and wastewater.
      • Strong project management skills with ability to lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
      • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
      • Ability to lead environmental, engineering, and multi-disciplinary teams.
      • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business documents, professional journals, technical procedures, and regulations.
      • Working knowledge of safety regulations.
      • Understanding of accounting processes and P&L statements.
