Job Description

- Assists with research on engineering-related studies. Assists with design elements of Utility projects.
- Collects corrosion protection program field measurements, related reports, and assists with design of future installations.
- Assists in verifying materials are in compliance with Des Moines Water Works standards.
- Assists with fire flow tests.
- Prepares written documentation of construction activities for record and contract administrative purposes.
- Gather, input, and manipulate data in Excel.
- Assists with the review of construction plans to verify they comply with Des Moines Water Works' requirements.
- Assists Engineering staff with construction inspection and verifying construction is in accordance with plans and specifications.
- Performs other duties of similar nature.
Frequently performs tasks requiring periods of stooping, standing, bending, twisting, and reaching overhead.
- Walks for extended periods over uneven terrain.
Occasionally handles up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent exposure to traffic and construction noise.
- Frequent exposure to adverse weather conditions.
- Occasional exposure to dust.
- Office setting.

This is a seasonal (summer) internship opportunity.
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am- 4:30pmEducation: Completion of freshman level civil or construction engineering course work.
Licenses/Certifications: Must possess a valid Iowa driver’s license with good driving record.
Other: Must pass pre-employment drug test and physical.
