      Overview

      GFT is seeking a Engineering Intern to join our Transportation Team in Fort Lauderdale, FL! This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Fort Lauderdale, FL office.

      Working on the Transportation team at GFT offers the opportunity to engage in transformative projects that enhance transportation infrastructure and improve community connectivity. Whether working on highways and bridges or traffic engineering, our team excels in resilient, sustainable design and construction, delivering innovative solutions that address the complexities of modern, multimodal roadway systems and ensure safe, efficient, and reliable travel for all .       Responsibilities

      What you'll be challenged to do:

      This intern will work within our civil and structural engineering, architecture, and planning services divisions, and assist with a variety of projects. This role offers the ability to actively interact with our teams as we work to develop plans, designs, and studies for our clients in various disciplines including states and municipalities, freight railroad, passenger rail and transit, airports, air carriers, and federal government projects.

      • Assist office in various tasks related to Civil/Structural Engineering, Architecture, and Planning. This includes design, analysis, studies, and plan production.
      • Attend weekly project and/or team meetings and provide status updates.
      • Will learn proficiency in computer-aided drafting and design software (MicroStation and Geopak).
      • Assist with CADD production.
      • Assist with engineering calculations.
      • Contribute to project deliverables,
      • Other entry-level engineering, architecture, and planning activities.

      Qualifications

      What you'll bring to our firm:

      • Candidate anticipates graduating with a bachelor’s degree in December 2025 or is currently a sophomore, junior, or senior.
      • Candidate is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, Architecture, or Planning .

      • Must be eager to learn, be flexible and be a team player.
