At Weights & Biases, our mission is to build the best tools for AI developers. We founded our company on the insight that while there were excellent tools for developers to build better code, there were no similarly great tools to help ML practitioners build better models. Starting with our first experiment tracking product, we have since expanded our solution into a comprehensive AI developer platform for organizations focused on building their own deep learning models and generative AI applications.

Weights & Biases proudly serves over 1,000 customers and more than 30 foundation model builders including customers such as OpenAI, NVIDIA, Microsoft, and Toyota.

We are hiring a seasoned engineering manager to lead our Delivery Tooling team, a critical group responsible for building and operating the platform that enables our engineers to ship software quickly, reliably, and safely. This team owns deployment automation, infrastructure provisioning/monitoring, and release processes that underpin our engineering organization's ability to deliver software to customers in GCP, AWS, Azure, and even self-hosted environments. Your leadership will directly influence engineering velocity and platform stability.

      Responsibilities:
      • Lead, manage, and mentor the Delivery Tooling engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration, technical excellence, and high performance.
      • Own the strategy, roadmap, and execution for the tools and infrastructure supporting deployment automation, infrastructure provisioning, monitoring, and release processes across all W&B environments.
      • Drive improvements in engineering velocity, release frequency, and reliability across the entire engineering organization.
      • Collaborate closely with other engineering teams and stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure the developer platform effectively supports their workflows.
      • Operate and enhance robust, scalable delivery systems capable of deploying software to multiple public clouds (GCP, AWS, Azure) and self-hosted environments.
      • Guide the team in making sound technical decisions, balancing speed, quality, and operational cost.
      • Recruit, hire, and retain talented engineers for the Delivery Tooling team.

      Requirements:
      • Hands-on experience with container orchestration systems, particularly Kubernetes.
      • Previous management experience leading an engineering team.
      • Demonstrated track record as a capable senior IC or tech lead.
      • Strong understanding of the modern software delivery lifecycle (SDLC), including infrastructure automation and release management.
      • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and tools.
      • Deep experience deploying and managing services on at least one major public cloud provider (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
      • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop engineers and build high-performing, collaborative teams.
      • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a history of working effectively across diverse engineering groups and stakeholders.
      • Ability to clearly articulate technical concepts, strategies, and trade-offs to both technical and non-technical audiences.

      Nice to Haves:
      • Prior experience at companies known for mature internal deployment tooling or developer platforms.
      • Experience working with or building an SRE team.
      • Experience managing infrastructure or tooling across multiple cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure).
      • Experience supporting software delivery for self-hosted or on-premises deployment models.
      • Familiarity with modern observability tools and practices (monitoring, logging, tracing).
      • Experience building internal developer platforms or a strong focus on improving developer experience.
      • Experience managing infrastructure budgets or optimizing cloud costs.
