      The Role

      We are currently seeking an Engineering Manager to lead our Embedded Software team at our Livingston office.

      As an Engineering Manager you will be responsible for overseeing the core technology and activities of the functional engineering team within Plexus Engineering Solutions. Your role will involve actively contributing to shaping the team's culture and the overall site environment.

      Additionally, you will lead high-interest projects that hold significant importance for the site.

      You will also take charge of temporary or ad hoc projects that may not fall under the responsibilities of a specific organization within the site, and may require temporary assignment of a leader to address unique site requirements.

      Key Job Responsibilities:

      • Group and Business Management - Effectively manages staff and resources by allocating them appropriately across multiple design centers. This includes conducting productive staff meetings, developing operating plans and budgets, and ensuring the creation and maintenance of the quality system and CAPA. Balancing the needs of employees, customers, and Plexus is a priority in this role.
      • Performance Management and Coaching - Conducts thorough performance evaluations, staff assessments, and one-on-one discussions to provide constructive feedback and coaching. Recognizing individual accomplishments, setting goals and objectives, and resolving personnel issues and conflicts professionally are also key responsibilities.
      • Group Capabilities - Enhances and expands group capabilities by hiring qualified personnel, establishing and achieving group objectives, identifying and supporting training opportunities, assigning projects effectively, and developing and maintaining technical roadmaps. Additionally, establishing, maintaining, and improving product realization processes is crucial.
      • Business Development - Takes the lead in the customer development process to secure new business and is directly responsible for fostering repeat business with previous and/or current customers.
      • Worksharing Support - Identifies work packages or opportunities that can be work shared and collaborates with the other Functional Managers to promote inter-design center project staffing. This is done while considering the individual needs of the project, customer, and employee.
      • Manages customers' expectations - Ensures that customers' expectations are effectively managed for complex full value stream projects and/or complex product commercialization projects. This includes setting expectations for challenges in product development or test systems, as well as managing expectations regarding project scope, schedule, budget, risks, deliverables, and any changes to the original proposal.

      Education/Experience Qualifications:

      • You will possess at least a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field.

      • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience is mandatory, with a preference for two (2) years of experience in the industry.

      • The position requires a minimum of five (5) years of industry experience, including two (2) years of preferred Project Management experience, and two (2) years of preferred experience with Plexus (or a similar service industry), provided that the educational requirements are met.

      Candidates who have a combination of education and experience that is equivalent and sufficient to effectively carry out the key job responsibilities will also be considered.
