      Caterpillar’s Electrification & Energy Solutions (E&ES) Division will focus on delivering advanced electrified power train, zero-emissions products/technologies, and the solutions and services associated with these technologies. Focus areas include batteries, fuel cells, motors, inverters, micro grid controllers, charging, energy storage systems, lifecycle solutions/services and integration of components for ePowertrain solutions across industries.

      The Position:

      Caterpillar’s E&ES Divi is focused on advanced power systems development with emphasis on electrification to provide sustainable power solutions to our customers. The E&APSD Chemitronics team handles Battery Modelling, Simulation and Battery Management System (BMS) strategy, implementation for a wide range of battery chemistries.

      We are seeking an Engineering Project Team leader to join our Chemitronics team to develop/deploy BMS controls strategies for company-wide product applications. The successful candidate will lead the BMS Software Validation discipline and also serve as an experienced contributor on assignments that are complex in nature, working with teams across the US, UK and India.

      Job Responsibilities and Duties:

      As an Engineering Project Team Lead you will be responsible for BMS software validation. You will work with a team of engineers and be accountable for gathering and meeting the voice of the customer throughout development and integration of control strategies. Accountability spans the full development cycle from concept to production implementation onto BMS controller.

      Detailed responsibilities include but not limited to –

      • Work with customers//product application teams to understand the software requirements to support validation activities
      • Work with Battery Module/Pack design and other teams for system integration and validation of control strategies
      • Author and maintain FMEAs (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis), DVP (Design Verification Plan), test procedures/plans
      • Develop/own processes for software validation
      • Manage software sign-off activities before release
      • Lead New Product Introduction (NPI)/Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) issue resolutions

      The Engineering Project Lead in this role is expected to –

      • Contribute to the identification, analysis, and resolution of needs and problems in your discipline
      • Deliver Technical solutions to cost and time
      • Communicate tailored technical information to internal and external customers, team members, and suppliers
      • Develop and maintain a keen understanding of internal and external customers' needs
      • Lead a team of cross-functional Engineers delivering the validation
      • Travel to proving ground/customer locations for on-site support of validation/development work

      Basic Qualifications:

      • Bachelor's (with 6+ years of experience) / Master’s (with 5+ years of experience) degree in an engineering discipline with a focus on Control systems or Mechatronics with industry experience developing controls software, performance or system validation related to control algorithms for complex systems.
      • Knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink (or similar) with embedded code exposure
      • Experienced in software validation methodologies i.e. HIL, SIL, lab, machine/vehicle
      • Self-starter with proven problem solving and project management skills in execution of complex systems

      Top Candidates will also have:

      • Knowledge and experience with Lithium-Ion batteries and/or BMS control strategies such as State of Health (SOH), State of Charge (SOC), etc.
      • Direct-to-Flash methodology for creating experimental flash files
      • Experience in leading teams through complex technical projects
      • Hands on experience supporting application validation on customer/proving ground machines

      Job Locations: Preferred location – Peoria. Other locations –Tucson, AZ, Clayton NC, Dallas, TX, Houston, TX

      Compensation and Benefits:

      Base Salary for role ranges from $118,632 to $177,948. Actual salary will be based on experience. Total rewards package includes:
