      Basic Job Functions:

      The Engineering Tech - Mechanical role is to safely maintain mechanical components throughout the plant. This includes trouble shooting and repairing all equipment, cooperating with and supporting operations and other duties as assigned. This is considered an entry level maintenance position with a one-year structured plan to become a Grade 3 Mechanic. Nucor teammates are expected to participate in and promote an atmosphere of cooperation and team work while maintaining compliance in all areas of the site within our Quality Control System.

      Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

      Minimum Qualifications:

      • Technical Degree in Industrial Maintenance or 3-5 years experience in Mechanical Maintenance

      Physical Demands:

      • Ability to work a rotating shift schedule
      • Capable of working in extreme temperatures (hot and cold)
      • Comfortable working at heights
      • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds


      Preferred Qualifications:


      • Understanding of basic maintenance functions
      • Understanding of basic hydraulic, mechanical principles.
      • Basic welding ability; including overhead welding.
