      Your new responsibilities

      ams-OSRAM group focuses on creating optical solutions in sensing, illumination, and visualization. Our business unit, Opto Semiconductors, combines the manufacturing of optical semiconductors, converter materials, and packages. Combining its headquarters in Regensburg, Germany, production sites in Penang and Kulim (Malaysia), and a global network of sales, marketing and R&D centers (including New England), the business unit employs over 10,000 people. Our semiconductor emitter products include high-power LEDs in the visible range, high-performance infrared LEDs, and high-power semiconductor lasers, all categorized according to different brightness levels, sizes, and package formats.
      ams-OSRAM OS is currently seeking to fill an Engineering Technician position to work in the Research and Development group by processing and characterizing optical materials. The selected candidate will perform hands-on operations in various areas of ceramics and glasses preparation and optical measurements.

      The successful candidate will join a skilled and motivated team in advancing current capabilities, developing new processes, and implementing new technologies. There will be extensive interaction between research and development, engineering, plant management, and production employees on the shop floor for the development and industrialization of new products and new processes, and for improvement of the new manufacturing processes and efficiency.

      Exeter, NH is the center of excellence for polymers, ceramics and glass components within ams-OSRAM. Those who join this operation will be involved with state-of-the-art materials and processes.

      Job responsibilities Include:

      • Implementation of new materials and processes developed by R&D and New Product Introduction.
      • Operating equipment to produce, process and characterize samples in a clean-room environment.
      • Coordinate work with team engineers and scientists.


      What we look for


      Required Education and Experience:

      • Associate Degree or higher in Engineering, Trade School certification in materials engineering, optics, electronics or equivalent experience.
      • Manual dexterity to work with millimeter-sized samples.
      • Good record-keeping, data management/organization.
      • Ability to follow directions and work independently.

      Additional Skills (preferred):

      • Experience with operating tape-casting equipment.
      • Experience with optical materials and equipment to measure optical properties.
      • Experience with polymers.
      • Experience in a research environment.
      • Plotting/data skills in Excel.
