      JOB SCOPE

      The Engineering Technician is responsible for the assembly, integration and test of mechanical, fluidic, electronic, optical and electro-mechanical systems and prototypes. System integration testing, troubleshooting and service of electronic circuitry, systems and test fixtures during the product development process is a typical day to day requirement. Product knowledge, documentation transfer and inter-departmental communication also required. The engineering technician will perform assigned tasks with minimal oversight and utilize their interdisciplinary skills to perform independent development, troubleshooting and field service tasks.

      Key Duties and Responsibilities

      • Work with engineers and biologists during system development and integration testing

      • Test and troubleshoot systems and test fixtures and provide feedback to engineers

      • Test new hardware and software during development and/or validation

      • Install, troubleshoot and service prototype and alpha systems on and off site

      • Assemble, integrate and test prototype and alpha systems

      • Establish an effective working partnership with other Luminex departments to transfer knowledge and product documentation

      • Other duties as assigned

      Education, Experience, and Qualifications

      • Associate's Degree Minimum Associate’s degree or more than 2 years related experience and/or training or

      • 2+ Years Experience working independently in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities

      • Familiarity with the company’s document control system (all) (Low proficiency)

      • High mechanical aptitude and problem solving skills (Medium proficiency)

      • Proficiency with electronic, optical and biological test equipment (Medium proficiency)

      • Ability to read and understand electrical, mechanical and hydraulic schematic diagrams. (Medium proficiency)

      • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Medium proficiency)

      • Proficiency with the appropriate CAD software for their discipline (Medium proficiency)

      • Well-developed communication skills (Medium proficiency)

      • Familiarity with the current versions of applicable company policies and procedures (all) (Medium proficiency)

      • Knowledge of Luminex product and product development procedure (Medium proficiency)

      • The ability to organize work in an efficient manner, in addition to the ability to work well under stress and time pressures (Medium proficiency)

      Standard Physical Demands

      • Lifting/Use of Strength (20 to 50 pounds) - Occasionally

      Standard Working Conditions

      • Possible exposure to biological or chemical hazard, extensive noise, and/or working with lasers - Rarely

      • Work situations include dealing with people; working alone; making judgments and decisions; and directing, controlling or planning the activity of others - Occasionally

      Travel Requirements

      • 10% to support development programs
