Until Filled - Conduct initial assessments of students by administering and scoring standardized or non-standardized ESL language assessments to determine a student’s English Language (EL) proficiency level. This applies to current students within the district, outplaced, and in private schools within district boundaries.
- Provide ongoing support to schools in their initial assessment and intake process.
- Use assessment results to place students in appropriate EL programs or levels and to monitor their progress throughout their EL journey.
- Analyze assessment data to and report findings to teachers, administrators, and other stakeholders.
- Train ELL teachers on the use of assessment tools and provide ongoing support and guidance on assessment practices.
- Collaborate with other EL staff, teachers, and administrators to ensure effective ESL programs and services.
- Maintain accurate records of student assessments and progress.
- Collaborate with the data team to ensure compliance with State data systems.
- Collaborate with the data team and building designees to ensure compliance with accommodations for EL students during general district assessments.
- Provide recommendations to the EL leadership team for professional learning activities and resources as a result of data analysis and feedback.
- Provide resources and consultation services to private schools within the district boundaries for EL students who qualify for services.
- Actively participate on various District teams or committees and serve as the liaison for the ELL department.
- Participate in events outside of the regularly scheduled workday such as open houses, parent teacher conferences and Bilingual Parent Advisory Committee (BPAC) meetings.

Description: Responsible for the initial evaluation and assessment of English language proficiency of Pre-K – 12 students. Perform functions to support the English Language Learners (ELL) department in record keeping, staff training, and advocacy for the needs of all ELL students to ensure students receive appropriate support and services. This is a full-time postion with 10 extended contract days.
Job Summary:

Qualifications: The qualified candidate will have a valid Illinois Professional Educator License with secondary endorsements in: English as a Second Language (ESL).
