Job summary
The post holder will work as an integral member of the Endometriosis Multidisciplinary Team within University Hospitals Bristol & Weston NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will provide specialist nursing advice and support to patients and families, in-patient and out-patient, throughout their care pathway at St Michaels Hospital, Specialist Endometriosis Centre.
The post holder will utilize skills of clinical expertise, leadership, education and management to ensure a seamless service for patients, carers and staff. They will provide advice, support and information from the time of diagnosis and throughout the care pathway.
They will work closely with the multidisciplinary team in the hospital and the community to ensure a co-ordinated quality service and will be actively involved in education, audit and research.
The post holder will engage and lead discussions in multidisciplinary team meetings. They will be expected to provide a weekday, daytime service
Main duties of the job
To provide specialist nursing advice and support to patients, their families and carers from the time of diagnosis and throughout treatment and follow-up phases of treatment and care.
Specialist Nursing care will be provided during autonomous Nurse led clinic (new and follow up patients), joint Nurse and Consultant clinic, autonomous Nurse telephone clinic and the telephone/email patient support line.
To lead the development, improvement, management and promotion of the service ensuring the delivery of high quality, cost effective care.
To lead on the implementation and monitoring of adherence to relevant clinical guidelines.
To provide all staff with specialist advice on the management of symptoms.
To educate and share expertise with the multidisciplinary teams.
To act as a resource in the care of patients with specialist care needs, ensuring an optimum level of service to patients and their carers.
To work closely with community and or network teams, other hospital and community staff to ensure an effective seamless service.
