Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking an experienced Enterprise Contracts Negotiator to independently lead negotiations of complex cloud services agreements with public sector customers as part of the AWS Worldwide Public Sector Legal team. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving negotiations, from developing internal strategies to closing deals, while collaborating with various stakeholders.
Key job responsibilities
- Independently lead high-stakes and time-intensive negotiations with public sector customers and AWS Partners or Solution Providers
- Evaluate and draft custom contract terms
- Evaluate and draft responses to solicitations issued by public entities such as Requests for Proposals, Requests for Information
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to resolve customer issues and minimize risk to AWS
- Develop and implement negotiation strategies
- Serve as the face of AWS Legal in customer negotiation calls
- Provide oversight and guidance on multiple projects simultaneously
- Create, maintain, and improve standard operating procedures and negotiation resources
- Bachelor's degree
- 5+ years experience leading commercial or public sector contract negotiations
- 5+ years experience evaluating and drafting custom contract terms
- Ability to lead customer-facing negotiations
- Juris Doctor degree
- Experience in reviewing, negotiating, and advising on government contracts and procurement rules and regulations
- Familiarity with cloud computing services, outsourcing, and telecommunications
- Experience advising business teams on deal and negotiation strategy, implications of contract terms, and legal and commercial risk
- Deep understanding of legal concepts including indemnity, limitation of liability, privacy and security, and order of precedence
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
- High degree of independence, initiative, decisiveness, and creative thinking
- Strong judgment, including in ambiguous situations
