      Entry Level HVAC Technician

      Job Description

      The entry level HVAC technician specializes in working on heaters, AC units, and generators by delivering, picking up, setting up, tearing down, and performing maintenance and repairs on all rental equipment. Initially, the role does not require travel; however, once trained, the technician will travel across the US to service generators.

      Responsibilities

      • Prepare, inspect, and operate machines prior to delivery.
      • Load and unload delivery vehicle with equipment scheduled for delivery.
      • Deliver and pick up equipment to/from correct addresses, set up/tear down equipment on job sites, and obtain signatures and proof of receipt when necessary.
      • Explain proper use and care of products to customers.
      • Retrieve equipment for customers, assist with loading equipment, and restock returned products.
      • Inspect products on return to ensure items are clean, in good repair, and refilled or otherwise maintained according to rental agreement.
      • Identify and tag products that need to be repaired, cleaned, or modified before being restocked.
      • Maintain the organization and cleanliness of the facilities and work area, including company vehicles.
      • Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
      • Properly and efficiently complete paperwork; accurately maintain record of hours worked, accounts serviced, and administrative time.
      • Determine parts, materials, and other related supplies necessary for repairs, maintenance, or modifications; order needed items.
      • Repair, recondition, and maintain equipment and components.
      • Remove, disassemble, assemble, and install components and parts.
      • Perform preventative maintenance tasks, service, and maintain equipment sold and/or owned.
      • Receive orders from the order desk and retrieve goods from the warehouse.
      • Check packing list for accuracy and inspect collected goods.
      • Pack orders for shipment.

      Essential Skills

      • Troubleshoot and repair diesel engines.
      • Read repair manuals and schematic diagrams.
      • Self-motivated and self-directed ability.
      • Ability to work well with minimal supervision.
      • At least one year of experience in replacing/troubleshooting hydraulic systems.

      Additional Skills & Qualifications

      • Ability to operate various types of materials handling equipment including hand trucks, pallet jacks, skid steers, and forklifts safely when needed.
      • Mechanical aptitude and experience with hand and power tools.
      • Knowledge of electrical wiring, blueprint reading, hydraulics, carpentry, generator, diesel repair, 3-phase systems, machine assembly, and automotive repair.

      Work Environment

      The work environment includes a first shift from 7am to 3:30pm, with 5-10 hours of overtime expected if busy. The facility consists of a large property with three buildings, including offices, a warehouse, and a shop for working on generators. Technicians will be comfortable working outside year-round and will be part of a team of approximately 15 rental business members and 7 technicians, training with experienced techs. The dress code requires steel-toed boots, long pants, and a work shirt.

      Job Type & Location

      This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Johnsburg, Illinois.

      Pay and Benefits

      The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00/hr.
