Actalent is actively seeking an entry level mechanical engineer for a position in Victoria, B.C.!

Description:

As an entry level mechanical engineer, you'll be assigned to an exciting naval project where you will apply your technical knowledge to prepare or review project deliverables such as plans, report, drawings, etc. You'll be working under the technical guidance of more experience staff, and collaborate with different disciplines to provide a quality service for internal and external customers.

Some of your key responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain a technical understanding of the platform's mechanical systems such as propulsion systems, auxiliary systems, HVAC systems, etc.

• Provide engineering support to the repair, maintenance and commissioning of the platform's mechanical systems

• Participate in engineering design activities and prepare or review drawings for naval systems

• Complete various technical activities such as investigations, analysis, studies, testing, etc.

• Assist in preparing documentation, reports, and project plans to describe activities planned and accomplished, status reports, letters, memoranda, messages, and contact reports

• Fulfill project roles as assigned by the functional lead. Work to the project management schedule and budget and report to the Project Manager and Project

• Other duties as allocated by the Functional Lead.

Required Skills :

• Must be eligible for Canadian Government Secret Clearance
• Bachelors Degree in the following or similar: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Marine Engineering
• Must have an interest in joining the Naval industry
• Must be able to go on site daily to location in Victoria, B.C.

Assets:

• Coop experience in a related field
• Knowledge of pumps, motors, valves, compressors, bearings, shaft-lines, precision alignment methods, and blue fits.
• Strong computer skills including MS Office suite desirable.
