  Preconstruction Engineer

  • Perform quantity take-offs via onscreen software and studies for all items within the assigned scope.
  • Conduct constructability analysis to identify design and constructability issues.
  • Collaborate with operations staff to include general conditions and requirements in estimates.
  • Prepare detailed estimates at various project stages, including conceptual, schematic, design development, and construction documents.
  • Prepare and analyze cost models during the Design Development phase.
  • Create and manage subcontractor and material supplier bid lists.
  • Lead the solicitation process, prepare bid packages, and analyze bids from subcontractors and material vendors.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of material unit costs, system square foot costs, and total building square foot costs.
  • Stay current on construction methods, materials, costs, wage rates, and working rules.
  • Participate in preconstruction strategy meetings with the Director of Preconstruction.
  • Develop detailed preconstruction and preliminary construction schedules for each estimate.
  • Coordinate and participate in transfer meetings between the project operations team and the preconstruction team, and follow-up meetings.
  • Visit ongoing projects to verify the status of estimates against actual project progress.

  Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Four (4) four-year bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management.

  Pay and Benefits

  The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $85000.00/yr.

  This is a fully onsite position in Walbridge,OH.
