Design, implement, test, and maintains our web-based open-source applications
Provide technical assistance to our customers
Document systems procedures and guidelines
Actively participate in quality assurance
Participates in collaborative team software design
Meet with Library customers and technical staff to determine their needs and requirements
Engag e in IT trainings and professional development activities
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience AND four months (1 semester) of student worker and/or customer service experience.
Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Excellent customer services skills.
Two years of software applications developer experience.
Knowledge of intermediate troubleshooting.
Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
Excellent organizational and planning skills required .
Must be extremely dependable.
Experience in the following programming languages: Java, PHP, C/ C++ and Shell Scripting.
Experience with data processing and querying in JSON and XML.
Experience with the following open-source technologies: Cocoon, DSpace or Fedora, MySQL or PostgreSQL, and Tomcat.
Experience with Agile software development practices.
Experience with virtualized infrastructure such as Open Stack, Vagrant, or EC2.
Experience with automated deployment, e.g. with Docker and/or Kubernetes .
Must be knowledgeable of the Model-View-Controller design pattern and user-cent.

As a Software Applications Developer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, testing, and maintaining Web-based open-source applications for management of digital collections with TAMU Libraries. Also, you will consult with users to define application requirements, writing documentation of system procedures and guidelines for application users, and answering questions and providing technical assistance and/or training to application users and or technical staff.
