      Your Role and Responsibilities

      Job Duties:

      • Coordinating with the team to understand requirements and set up new/existing configurations.
      • Testing and debugging hardware, software services and applications
      • Gathering data and following performance testing conventions
      • Mining and analyzing performance data Improving functionality of existing processes
      • Preparing Test Result Summary ReportsAnalyzing requirements and providing technical solutions
      About the Team
      The candidate will have the opportunity of working with a team with wide range experience and who are experts in IBM Z systems, mainframe/hardware performance testing, data analysis, and have technical skills in coupling & parallel sysplex. The team works very closely with the system architects, hardware & firmware development teams to conduct performance testing of the internal & external coupling links and the parallel sysplex capabilities of the existing and next generation IBM Z systems. They are all located in Poughkeepsie NY.

      Introduction

      We are looking for a mainframe tester to join our team to help us achieve Sysplex Performance deliverables for the next machine cycle. Tester responsibilities include writing test cases and testing code, debugging programs and integrating applications into the environment. The candidate will be mentored / trained on z/OS system programming, test planning, test case / script writing, data gathering, executing, defect finding, logging, tracking, data analysis, and reporting. There will be opportunities to collaborate with architects, developers and other analysts and testers to plan / automate various test activities. To be successful in this role, the candidate should be able to work well in a team, have an interest in learning, be able to work/investigate on their own and be aware of testing best practices.

      Required Technical and Professional Expertise

      • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
      • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
      • Collaborative skills and ability to work in fast-paced agile environments.
      • Basic knowledge / understanding of computer science fundamentals.
      • Basic knowledge / understanding of software testing.
      • Quick learner with business acumen.

      Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

      • Programming skills in programming languages such as, C++, etc.
      • Knowledge of Performance process / methodology.
      • Knowledge of Agile environment.
      • Experience with Testing tools.
      • Experience with performance analysis.

      The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
