The Mission Systems Operation Contract (MSOC) has an excellent opportunity for a System Test Engineer to join the team of testers responsible for testing the baseline software releases used in NASA Johnson Space Center’s Mission Control Center (MCC). The applicant will work in a dynamic team environment and will be responsible for working with the NASA customer, users, software engineers, and commercial and international partners to capture and understand system requirements, operations concepts, and develop test plans and procedures for execution.
Primary Responsibilities include:
Responsible for decomposing system architecture requirements and developing test procedures to verify the requirements, which requires technical planning, reviewing requirements, development of a test plan supported by detailed test procedures, executing test procedures, and documenting actual test results against expected results. In addition, system test team members evaluate alternatives including cost and risk, supportability and analyses for total systems. Requirements verification can be accomplished using one or more methodologies including test, demonstration, inspection, or analysis. Additional test duties include performing systems requirements analysis, functional analysis, timeline analysis, trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition, technical management, integration, and quality assurance, which includes assisting in peer reviews of test products to ensure quality results.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Typically requires BS in Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Math, or related area with 0-2 years of direct experience in the area of unit testing or system testing.

• Perform maintenance and enhancement to existing test procedures
• Development of new automated and manual test plans
• Excellent interpersonal skills

• Ability to plan, maintain schedules, and push to meet deadlines
• Detail-oriented
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and professionally represent the program
• Highly motivated individual willing to learn and apply new concepts, tools, and software
Day to day duties may include the following:
• Updating baseline procedures in DOORS
• Automating test tools and script maintenance
• Support configurations and timelines for DITs (Development Integration Tests) and SRTs (System Release Tests)
• Peer Review
• Document issues by submitting IRs in Service Now
• CR (change request) evaluations
• Research & develop new test steps for new or modified capabilities
• Plan test objectives for test runs
• Support Team and Section meetings
Desired Skills:
• Previous experience with automation, Linux, and Python
• Operational experience with software testing
• Understanding of generic computer systems and LANs
