      We’re hiring a Recycler to Live. Work. Explore. this summer!

      Job Summary:

      At Yellowstone National Park Lodges, we are committed to minimizing our environmental impact by reducing the amount of waste we generate and recycling the waste that cannot be reduced. We view our waste diversion efforts as the foundation of the sustainability program in Yellowstone because everyone who enters the park to Work, Live, or Explore can participate. Through the combined efforts of employees and guests, Yellowstone National Park Lodges already recycles nearly half of the waste generated in our hotels, restaurants, and tours. But 50% is just the start – our goal is a 5% reduction in waste to landfills every year. As a member of Yellowstone's Sustainability Team, you will play a key role in helping us achieve this goal, as well as our mission to provide Legendary Hospitality with a Softer Footprint.

      The Details:
      Position Type: Seasonal
      Season Dates: May 2024 - October 2024
      Pay: $17.25/hr
      Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days/per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

      Responsibilities

      • Efficient collection of all recyclable materials for the assigned location.
      • Sort recyclable materials from unrecyclable materials.Process all location cardboard as applicable using baling equipment
      • Safe operation of cardboard balers and other equipment.
      • Maintain the location recycling area(s) to sanitation and resource management standards.
      • Responsible care of location recycling vehicle including safe operation, compliance with all traffic and safety laws, assurance of company vehicle cleanliness, and regular maintenance and safety checks.
      • Work with Gardiner Park-wide Recycling Technician to ensure processing of recyclables meets the standards of recycling contractor.
      • Safe operation of all rental equipment in use, including not overriding any equipment safety features.
      • Work with Sustainability Department to assess waste management opportunities, improve effectiveness of diversion program, and implement program changes as needed.
      • Assist with other duties and programs as assigned, such as waste assessments and new program development and implementation.


      Qualifications

      • Must have ability to work with minimum of supervision,complete tasks in a safe, timely, and professional manner, while also providing direction to 1-2 other recyclers
      • Must be at least 21 years of age, possess a valid U.S. driver’s license with safe driving record and ability to operate 1-ton vehicle
      • A driver practice testing will be required once on location
      • Must have prior knowledge or interest in learning waste management and overall park-wide environmental programs and serve as a resource for fellow employees and park visitors
      • Must have knowledge of or interest in learning recyclable materials, processing methods, and collection systems
      • Respiratory protection will be worn when required. OSHA standards require a clean-shaven face

      Physical Requirements

      • Must be able to lift, push or pull bins with weights of 50-100 pounds on a daily basis
      • Must be able to stand and bend throughout an 8-hour shift
      • Must pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical exam provided by Xanterra’s partner clinic.
