- Coordinates and presents natural resource conservation and agricultural education programs, classroom activities, teachers’ workshops, and adult education programs.
- Develops, promotes, and oversees District educational programs, activities, contests, and professional development opportunities for students.
- Establishes relationships with public, private, and other school personnel as well as relevant youth program leaders; coordinates with those parties to promote involvement by students in District programs, activities, and contests.
- Seeks opportunities for partnerships with mission-related organizations such as Cooperative Extension, Recreation and Parks, Library, and relevant non-governmental organizations; fosters these partnerships through collaborative efforts.
- Facilitates and assists with Local, Regional, and State education contests and programs, including those set forth by the NC Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts.
- Organizes farm tours, field days, nature walks, and/or meetings for groups interested in agriculture and environmental education.
- Assists with the development and implementation of District communication and marketing materials that promote the District and County’s mission, objectives, and strategies.
- Assists and coordinates conservation education efforts with other county departments, local governments, agencies, organizations, and area environmental educators to encourage natural resource stewardship in the general public.
- Provides organizational support for department and county programs as directed.
- Attends meetings, conferences, and workshops as required.
- Performs other administrative and related duties as assigned.
- Associate degree from an accredited college or university in agriculture, biology, environmental science, forestry, natural resources, education, or a related field and
- Two years of experience in soil and water conservation or environmental education; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
- NC Environmental Education Certification, or ability to obtain certification.

Your primary responsibility will be to develop, coordinate, and deliver a wide range of environmental education programs focused on natural resource conservation, agriculture, and sustainability. These programs will target schools, youth groups, civic organizations, and the broader community.

The starting salary will be determined with consideration given to both the candidate's educational background and relevant work experience.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record per County policy.
This is a non-exempt position. Part-time employees cannot work more than 1000 hours per calendar year.
