      Basic Job Functions:

      This position is responsible for providing regulatory and technical assistance to Nucor divisions and subsidiaries on various activities related to environmental permitting and regulatory affairs. The Environmental Engineer will assist in the monitoring, tracking, and evaluating proposed and final local, state, and federal environmental regulations. The Environmental Engineer will be responsible for drafting comments regarding proposed and final environmental legislation and regulations. In addition, the successful candidate will work with environmental regulators, lobbyists, and government affairs to initiate and implement sound environmental policy.

      Additional responsibilities of the Environmental Engineer include but are not limited
      to:

      • Review environmental permit applications to ensure applicable requirements are properly evaluated and adopted into permits
      • Improvement of the Environmental Management System
      • Participation in the environmental audit program
      • Assist with environmental due diligence activities
      • This position requires substantial business travel
      • In addition to the duties of providing assistance in environmental permitting, the successful candidate will also be expected to participate in other corporate

      environmental department activities and functions as needed. These responsibilities include (but are not limited to) environmental compliance assistance,

      outreach, and environmental sustainability initiatives.

      Minimum Qualifications:

      • Bachelor’s Degree in related field (i.e. Civil Engineering, Environmental Management, Chemistry)
      • Two years of experience in industrial manufacturing, consulting services, or regulatory agencies in environmental engineering, environmental compliance,

      environmental management, or some combination thereof.
      • Recommendation from current Supervisor and/or Manager.

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Industrial, consulting, or regulatory experience in environmental engineering, environmental compliance, environmental management, or some combination

      thereof
      • Steel industry experience
      • Solid understanding of air pollution control equipment, water and wastewater systems, and monitoring equipment including their design, operation, and

      maintenance
