- Provide oversight and analysis of the Grainger EHS management system, identifying and incorporating best practices and regulatory requirements, and implementing proactive steps to improve measurements and outcomes related to EHS standards.
- Maintain federally required recordkeeping and injury/illness logs. This includes administering the OSHA Recordkeeping process, including providing guidance to partners on recordkeeping applicability, reasoning for recording per the federal standard, and interpreting federal standards.
- Coordinate training compliance records, including hazardous waste shipping and powered equipment operations.
- Powered Industrial Equipment (PIE) training records and license management.
- Evaluate ergonomic related risk within distribution center operations, identify prevention measures, collaborate with partners, and create action plans to reduce exposures.
- Manage/Train/Conduct behavior-based safety program, evaluating trends and areas of opportunity to improve the safety culture and environment.
- Schedule and conduct site EHS compliance inspections, identify prevention measures, partner with teams, and provide corrective action response recommendations and tracking.
- Help update required environmental permits, Tier II reports, hazardous waste management, etc. to comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Support and participate in Safety Committee meetings through meeting attendance, inspection team leadership, findings documentation and corrective measures development and closure tracking.
- Work hands-on in a multi-shift warehouse environment.
- BA/BS or equivalent experience.
- 1+ years’ experience with responsibility for environmental, health and safety related matters.
- Knowledge of federal, state and local laws and regulation relating to environmental, health and safety.

Position Details
Reporting to an Area EHS Manager, the EHS Specialist will provide technical support within the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Department. The EHS Specialist will bring expertise in regulatory compliance, management system maintenance, EHS training, onboarding, and generating analytical reports for trend analysis to support Company-wide plans. This position requires onsite presence during but not limited to standard working Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday (ex. 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST) AND Thursdays during 2nd shift hours (ex. 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.).
