- Experience in an industrial environment with strong safety/environmental culture
- Knowledge of Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations.
- Strong Microsoft Office Suite Skills- Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Industrial Hygiene, Behavior-Based Safety and Worker’s Compensation experience
- Safety training experience and certification (30-hour, fall protection, LOTOTO, etc.)
- 45001 and VPP/NC Star experience. GSP or CSP certification or equivalent
- Experience with ECMS, GHG, Air Permitting, Storm Water Permitting, Waste Management, Emissions Inventory, Tier II
- Environmental Management System experience

Basic Job Functions:
The role of the EHS Supervisor includes, but is not limited to, working closely with Nucor Steel Hertford Teammates, Contractors, and Leadership to drive continuous improvement in safety culture, performance, safety systems, and ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations. The EHS Supervisor will lead and develop the safety and environmental team members responsible for interpreting and practically applying regulatory standards such as (OSHA, NFPA, NRC, EPA, CFR), develop and update policies and procedures, conduct and document incident investigations, inspections/audits, develop action plans and follow up, conduct training, participate in emergency response teams, and lead the EHS professionals. The EHS Supervisor will champion and direct our NC Star certification and other internal safety and environmental programs. This position requires a willingness to spend time on the floor to obtain an understanding of operations in each area and build rapport with the team and must be able to demonstrate a calm demeanor during stressful situations and interactions. The successful candidate must be available and willing to respond to EHS needs, both during and after office hours. Occasional overnight travel will be required as well.
