      Your Role:

      The Environmental, Health, Safety & Security Manager requires proficiency in safety, industrial hygiene, property protection, and environmental and sustainability areas, and facility security. The role leads the EHSS management system at the Dendreon Union City, GA site to build and maintain a safe workplace for fellow associates and ensure protection of the environment, and security of site and staff.

      This is a site-based position, not a remote position.

      Responsibilities

      Your Work:

      • Manages the site’s EHSS compliance, through strong leadership skills and strategic actions to ensure strong EHSS performance through EHSS processes, procedures, and programs; create an outstanding EHSS culture.
      • Manages the facility security program including contractors, experts, and others as required.
      • Provide subject matter expertise for all EHS training needs of management and staff; Provides EHSS technical assistance and support to other Dendreon domestic sites as required.
      • Prepare, submit, and maintain record and reports in an accurate and timely manner; continuously monitor all aspects of site performance and provide direction to site leaders to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
      • Forecast and coordinate EHS activity around equipment layouts, building designs and process improvements, being an integral part of project teams, requiring complex decision making and knowledge of other operations in the area that can be affected by the decisions.
      • Primary contact/liaison for all EHS regulatory agencies, and the emergency coordinator representing the site during all interaction with EHS agencies, including local municipality services during catastrophic industrial and weather-related events.
      • Oversight of safety programs including but not limited to; accident prevention and reporting, behavior-based safety process, ergonomics, hazard communication, hazardous energy controls, confined spaces, lock-out tag-out, emergency evacuations, industrial hygiene monitoring, fire prevention, property conservation, accident investigation and analysis.
      • Oversee and recommend continuous improvement for Environment and Sustainability programs including but not limited to air emissions, water supply, storm water, and wastewater discharges, liquid solid hazardous waste management, chemical storage tank management, pollution prevention, communication right to know reporting, hazardous material storage, energy/water conservation and emergency preparedness/response.
      • Development of an annual budget for departmental expenses, employee requirements and capital equipment.
      • Thoroughly understands regulatory requirements, including, OSHA EPA, DOT, etc.
      • Experience in risks assessments, risk management, ergonomics, personnel protective equipment, injury and incident investigation, reporting, industrial hygiene, auditing, behavior-based safety and training.
      • Regularly interacts with senior management on matters concerning several functional areas, divisions and/or customers. Requires the ability to change the thinking of or gain acceptance of others in sensitive situations.

      Qualifications

      Education Requirements:

      • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required; Bachelor of Science in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental, Engineering or related field of study preferred.

      Job Requirements:

      • Minimum of eight (8) years of progressive experience in a broad range of EH&S technical subject areas required; Five (5) years EHS leadership/management experience preferred.
      • Relevant EH&S certifications preferred (examples: CSP, OSHA 30, AIHA, CHMM, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, CFPS, Hazmat Technician, Incident Commander, ASSE, APHA, OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens)
      • Experience in pharmaceutical industry a plus, including knowledge of cGXP/ICH/FDA regulations.
      • Security management experience a plus
      • Strong written and verbal communication skills

      Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

      • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
      • Intermittent walking to gain access to work areas.
      • Finger dexterity sufficient to use a computer and to complete paperwork activities.
      • Vision sufficient to use a computer, to read written materials and to complete paperwork activities.
      • Hearing sufficient to communicate with individuals by telephone and in person.
      • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Limited exposure to (2ºC - 8ºC); (-20ºC); (-75ºC); (-196ºC) areas.
      • Must have the ability to work around laboratories, manufacturing areas and equipment, and regularly lift 10 – 20 lbs and lift up to 50 lbs.
      • May be required to work alternate shifts.
      • Ability to gown aseptically for work in Clean Room environments.
      • Job performed in a lab, office, or utility (noisy) environment.
      • Must have the ability to work around laboratories, manufacturing areas and equipment with exposure to blood, blood products or OPIM (other potentially infectious materials) while donning required personal protective materials.
