Co-create and implement CASR’s food and environmental justice programs with community-based organizations and other partners.
Develop and administer mini-grants and Requests for Proposals (RFPs): drafting RFPs for professional services contracts, evaluating proposals, selecting successful bidders, administering the contracts, and monitoring contracts for compliance and expenditures; planning for utilization of the Climate Protection Fund (CPF) Environmental Justice budget
Work with environmental justice communities to identify assets, barriers, and needs.
Report and track metrics to evaluate effectiveness of CPF Environmental Justice investments.
Develop materials for CASR’s annual report, including case studies.
Identify modifications to existing programs or create new programs to meet environmental justice objectives and better serve the community.
Direct the evaluation of programs to determine if programs are achieving their goals and objectives and meeting the needs of participants and the community.
Serve as CASR’s food and environmental justice subject matter expert, and engage with partners and community members to positively represent Denver’s environmental justice programs.
Engage with climate vulnerable people and communities to build trust, identify environmental justice objectives, and modify existing programs or co-create new solutions to meet those objectives.
Track state and federal funding for environmental justice programs.
Develop culturally appropriate outreach and education.
A mission-driven mindset and the desire to tackle environmental injustice and climate action in Denver.
Experience developing and managing complex collaborative projects anchored on the land with community-based partners that support disproportionately impacted communities.
Strong neighborhood-based organizational and coalition building experience.
Strong understanding of issues at the core of food and climate justice, including: inclusive urban food systems and food access, resilient and regenerative agriculture, land use, climate adaptation, affordable housing and displacement.
An understanding of the concepts of institutional and structural racism and bias and their impact on under-resourced communities, along with the desire to incorporate perspectives of multiple communities.
A strong emphasis on equity and inclusion, with either professional or lived experience working with people from diverse backgrounds, including under-resourced communities.
Strong project management experience with ability to adapt, innovate, and push through barriers to deliver exceptional results on time.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to present to diverse audiences.
Results-oriented, self-driven to contribute to a high performing team.
An ability to work with representatives from a variety of city agencies and external organizations in a collaborative manner in support of CASR mission, Denver’s Food Vision and other strategic initiatives.
Experience managing a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) project.
Training in correct use of farm equipment.
Knowledge of safe handling of farm elements including, but not limited to: decomposing plant material, fish waste, finished compost, bacteria, fungus, insects, and fertilizers.
Strong understanding of indigenous placed-based knowledge and indigenous permaculture practices preferred.
Experience working as a farmer and manager at a vegetable farm, preferably with sustainable farming practices; managing crop planning; providing leadership and technical expertise and developing long range and short term sustainable urban farming policies and programs; and managing the development and implementation of performance criteria for such policies and programs.
Education requirement: Bachelor's Degree in a related field based on a specific position(s).
Experience Requirement: Five (5) years’ experience performing full performance professional level duties within a specialized, functional area. (This does not include clerical experience.)
Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education.
Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.

The Environmental Justice team, as part of the Climate Action Division, works to redress the detrimental impacts that environmental pollution and climate change have caused to frontline communities in Denver.
The Environmental Justice team has an opening for an Environmental Justice Administrator II. This position will report to the Environmental Justice Manager and will help implement high priority programs and policies. The outcomes of these will benefit Denver’s environmental justice communities and reduce the disproportionate burden of pollution in these communities.
