      EGLE’s Brownfield Program collaborates within communities to create economic opportunities by putting contaminated properties back into productive use while protecting human health and the environment. The program provides technical guidance and financial incentives to evaluate and mitigate environmental risks, relying on scientific data to ensure the best long-term outcomes and stewardship of tax dollars.       This position serves as the regional point of contact and as a resource on technical and financial issues associated with the EGLE Brownfield Program within the Jackson District (Jackson, Washtenaw, Monroe, Lenawee, and Hillsdale Counties). The position will work closely with EGLE staff, partner agencies, communities, and other stakeholders on funding requests for potential brownfield projects, including grants, loans, and Act 381 tax increment financing. The person in this position is also responsible to manage the scope, schedule, and budget of awarded grant and loan projects.

      This position also conducts proactive outreach, gives presentations, and meets with developers, communities, and other stakeholders to provide information and assistance on the EGLE Brownfield Program’s incentives. They will also facilitate discussions on the obligations related to the ownership and redevelopment of contaminated property and the environmental actions needed to safely redevelop these properties.
      The person in this position will possess or need to develop the ability to understand and communicate the meaning of environmental data, evaluation and mitigation of environmental risks, and an extensive knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies related to brownfield redevelopment.

      This is a partially remote position with the expectation the candidate will be in the Jackson district office, attend community meetings, and visit project sites throughout the district multiple days a month and as necessary. Travel to other meetings and conferences including overnight stays are periodically necessary throughout the year.

      Education

      Possession of a bachelor's degree in the biological sciences, engineering, physical sciences, resource development, or resource management.

      OR

      Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major with at least 30 semester (45 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: biochemistry, biology, botany, chemistry, crop and soil science, engineering, environmental health, environmental science, forest management, geology, ecology, meteorology, microbiology, physics, remote sensing, resource development, resource management, toxicology, or zoology.

      Experience

      Environmental Quality Analyst 9
      No specific type or amount is required.

      Environmental Quality Analyst 10
      One year of professional experience equivalent to an Environmental Quality Analyst 9.

      Environmental Quality Analyst P11
      Two years of professional experience equivalent to an Environmental Quality Analyst including one year equivalent to an Environmental Quality Analyst 10.

      Environmental Quality Analyst 12
      Three years of professional experience equivalent to an Environmental Quality Analyst, including one year equivalent to an Environmental Quality Analyst P11.ABOUT EGLE :
