Job Description

- Develop datasets and statistical methods to efficiently extract, organize, and analyze water quality, biological, sediment, and spatial data. Assist with interpretation of environmental data to support the Northern Coastal Basins (NCB) work plan, as well as newly planned priorities within the NCB estuarine basins. Assist with data management and analyses in related coastal and estuarine basins.
- Maintain communication and collaboration with other agencies, universities, and stakeholders in the region. Assist with collaborative fieldwork and support allied projects as needed.
- Maintain scientific fluency by reviewing literature, attending symposia and interagency meetings, and stakeholder groups. Organize and share compiled information with Coastal Section scientists and collaborators.
- Assist Coastal Section scientists (District and external collaborators) in the preparation of scientific documents (e.g., technical reports, PowerPoint presentations, or peer-reviewed journal articles).

Job Summary: This is professional work performing applied research for technical projects in the environmental field in coastal and estuarine systems, preparing technical publications, and assisting in the design and performance of technical projects.
Job duties include:
Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in biology, limnology, chemistry, botany,
environmental science or related field and four years professional experience in the environmental field.
Professional experience in environmental protection or research can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
SJRWMD has determined this to be a mandatory-testing position as described in Section 440.102, Florida Statutes. Any offer of employment for a mandatory-testing position will be contingent upon successfully passing a drug screening paid by SJRWMD. Preferred Skills:
Compilation, management, and analysis of large databases; parametric, nonparametric and multivariate
statistical analysis utilizing SAS or R software; application of empirical or mechanistic methods or models in
biology or ecology; natural resource management problem solving.
Working Environment:
Mostly office environment sitting at a desk and operating a personal computer to produce work products.
Periodic field visits:
Applicant must have ability to endure outdoor environments in uncomfortable temperatures, inclement weather, and remote locations.
Licenses:
Valid State of Florida Driver’s License.
Additional Details:
Salary Range: $54,537.60 - $68,161.60
Starting salary is based on qualifications and experience.
