  Duke Energy is seeking an energetic, hardworking science student with an interest in the electric power industry. This position is in the Environmental, Health, and Safety Department. Environmental, Health, and Safety manages Duke Energy’s overall environmental program including functions of Governance, Environmental Compliance, and Environmental Science.

  The successful candidates will assist team staff with water monitoring near Duke Energy properties in the Carolinas. The Intern will also assist with equipment maintenance, field preparations, bottle preparations, data analysis, and/or other sampling duties as requested. In addition to water quality monitoring, the intern could support various field and office work activities related to aquatic plant surveys, fisheries monitoring, and meteorological instrumentation maintenance as needed.

  Position Requirements:

  • Student must be currently enrolled and pursuing a four-year degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Biology, Chemistry, Natural Sciences, Ecology, or Construction Management.

  • Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher

  Working Conditions:

  • Hybrid, field, and onsite work environment opportunities available

  • Some opportunities require a valid driver’s license

  • Many of our opportunities require a 40-hour work week
