      Overview

      Fresno Heart and Surgical Hospital (FHSH) is a unique specialty hospital in Central California known for its luxurious accommodations, excellent patient experience and five-star cardiac, vascular and bariatric surgery services. We have 48 private patient suites that are able to accommodate a patient's overnight guest. Also, an additional nine private intensive care suites. We are a technologically advanced facility with surgical suites that promote minimally-invasive techniques for cardiac, vascular, bariatric and general surgery.

      Responsibilities

      Responsible for maintaining a safe, clean and inviting environment for the benefit of all patients, visitors and staff. Disinfects patient care areas with the goal of limiting the spread of pathogens and preventing hospital acquired infections. Contributes to efficient patient throughput by cleaning rooms in a timely manner. Works both independently and as part of a team.

      Accountabilities

      1. Follows basic infection prevention principles, including standard, contact, airborne, and droplet precautions. 2. Follows basic safe chemical handling practices, including the use of personal protective equipment, using the appropriate chemical for the job, and knowledge of how to locate the product Safety Data Sheet. Minimizes waste, including the over use of chemicals, cleaning tools, and supplies. 3. Follows standardized system for cleaning (cleans from top to bottom, left/right, and from cleanest surface to dirtiest). 4. Cleans/disinfects daily area assignment and discharged patient rooms thoroughly and documents work completed according to department standards. 5. Keeps Environmental Services (EVS) closets/supply storage areas (including the EVS cart) neat and clean. 6. Conducts oneself in a professional manner and uses AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explain, Thank) principles. 7. Responsible for work time. Reports to and leaves area of assignment according to established guidelines. Responds to service requests. 8. Reports all injuries and near misses to leadership in a timely manner. 9. Removes (Solid and Bio hazardous) waste and transports to disposal area and handles each waste stream according to applicable rules and regulations (e.g. regulated medical waste, pharmaceutical, recycle, soiled linen and solid waste). Ability to identify hazardous waste stream, and understands limitations. 10. Understands the emergency codes used within the hospital and responds appropriately to emergency situations. 11. Performs other duties as assigned.

      Qualifications

      Education• High School Diploma, General Education Development (GED) or Completion of a CMC Approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate upon hire or transfer into position required or• General Education Development (GED) obtained within 1 year of hire or transfer into position required. Failure to obtain the GED within 1 year will result in termination of employment.

      Experience• 3 months of experience working in a customer service environment required• Environmental services experience in a hospital environment preferred

      Note: Incumbents hired into position prior to March 19, 2019 are grandfathered with their existing educational degrees
