Position SummaryOrlando Health is a 3,200-bed system that includes 15 wholly-owned hospitals and emergency departments; rehabilitation services, cancer institutes, heart institutes, imaging and laboratory services, wound care centers, physician offices for adults and pediatrics, skilled nursing facilities, an in-patient behavioral health facility, home healthcare services in partnership with LHC Group, and urgent care centers in partnership with CareSpot Urgent Care. Nearly 4,200 physicians, representing more than 80 medical specialties and subspecialties have privileges across the Orlando Health system, which employs nearly 22,000 team members. Position Summary
The Environmental Services Technician ll is responsible for executing the daily duties required to establish and maintain a safe, clean,
healing environment. Responsible for ensuring daily room cleaning and timely room turnaround times related to patient throughput
within the basic principles of environmental hygiene and infection prevention. The Environmental Services Technician, in accordance with
organizationalstandards of quality, is an essential contributor to cleaning, disinfection, infection prevention, and customer experience.
ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions
• Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, using appropriate designated engagement techniques.
• Responsible for the cleaning and disinfecting of patient rooms, and ancillary areasto include, but notlimited to, bathrooms, public
areas, corridors, medication storage rooms as directed and any other areas that may require attention using designated and
appropriate chemicals and cleaning procedures.
• Accesses and uses all departmentrelated technology systems such as, but not limited to, the Bed Management systems.
• Replenishessupplies as needed, removes bio-medical waste, trash, and soiled linen asrequired daily and changes cubicle/window
curtains as needed.
• Completes patient room and bathroom cleaning daily to accommodate discharges/admissions and overall cleanliness standards
utilizing the approved proceduresfor patient room cleaning to include Bed Managementsystems where applicable.
• Performs duties while demonstrating working knowledge ofthe health care cleaning and disinfecting principles and requirements,
proper and safe chemical use, equipment handling, and labor-saving products for all items within the healthcare environment for
which tasked with servicing.
• Adheres to all organization safety, risk management and infection control guidelines and standards while promoting a culture of
safety.
• Operates UV disinfection machine as needed or according to policy.
• Actively participates in departmental performance improvement initiatives, including, but not limited to, initiatives to
improve Customer Experience and cleanliness metrics.
• Follows all infection prevention practices including proper cleaning and disinfection protocols and process, hand hygiene,
standard & isolation precautions, as well as proper donning and doffing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Recognizes and adheres to patient privacy requirements (HIPAA).
• Assistsin onboarding new Environmental Services Technician I and II’s asrequested.
• Reports unsafe situations and turnsin Engineering Service Requestsforrepair.
• Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal,
state, and local standards.
• Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
QualificationsEducation/Training
High School Diploma or GED, preferred
Licensure/Certification
Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Technician (CHEST), preferred.Experience
Three (3) or more years experience in Health care supportservices and/or environmental services, hospitality, or related fieldEducation/Training
