EOF First-Year Engagement Counselor & Retention Specialist

Job Description

- Meet with EOF first-year students monthly on academic progress, campus involvement, the selection of courses and academic programs
- Maintain confidential and accurate records of EOF scholars’ progress and interactions
- Collaborate with GCU Student Success Center for progress of EOF scholars on probation and strict probation and monitor student’s academic progress
- Maintain student records including, but not limited to, counseling contacts, EOF contracts, notes, workshop attendance, transfer forms, graduation checklists, and funding request forms
- Provide scholars with information regarding referral sources to assist them with personal situations that are beyond the scope of EOF services
- Coordinate one or more of the specified EOF Program components (e.g., career development, transfer, and student leadership)
- Plan and implement approved activities and workshops to promote student engagement, academic achievement and personal growth
- Design and implement initiatives aimed at retaining students with diverse needs (e.g., academic progress monitoring, support for students with disabilities, and diverse identities, and in Men/ Women of Color Success Initiative).
- Coordinate one or more of the specified EOF Program components (e.g., career development, transfer, and student leadership workshops
- Develop EOF program promotional material for events and student outreach
- Provide support for EOF programming and recruitment events as necessary
- Participate in orientation, training, professional development workshops, and other meetings as required
- Attend EOF conferences and workshops as needed
- Oversee EOF social media platforms
- Complete various tasks associated with program event preparation
- Minimum Associate's degree (Bachelor's degree preferred)
- Experience in higher education setting working with students in person and virtually
- Strong interpersonal skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of management in writing and verbally
- Must be well organized, detail-oriented and maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism.
- Experience using Zoom, Office Teams and Social media platforms
- Ability to manage a variety of priorities
- Ability to meet deadlines and complete tasks in an efficient and timely manner
