- Develop and maintain a comprehensive 5-year strategic roadmap for the organization’s Epic EHR system; aligning with business goals and healthcare industry best practices.
- Manage a portfolio of optimization projects aimed at enhancing EHR functionality, user experience, and interoperability.
- Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of quarterly Epic EHR system upgrades; ensuring minimal disruption to clinical operations and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage the upgrade process including testing, validation, and deployment.
- Develop and manage project plans for Epic optimization initiatives; working closely with clinical, technical, and operational teams to ensure successful implementation.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including clinicians, IT teams, executives, and end-users; fostering collaboration and alignment.
- Communicate project progress, updates, and potential challenges to stakeholders at various levels of the organization.
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks related to EHR upgrades, optimization projects, and roadmap execution.
- Resolve issues and roadblocks that may arise during projects; ensuring timely and effective solutions.
- Collaborate with Epic representatives to stay current on product developments, industry trends, and best practices.
- Ensure effective utilization of vendor resources and tools to maximize the organization's EHR capabilities.
- Establish performance metrics and KPIs to measure the success of EHR initiatives, upgrades, and optimization projects.
- Provide regular reporting to leadership on project status, performance against targets, and areas for improvement.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities to team members.
- Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Information Technology, or related field. Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in healthcare IT including significant experience with Epic EHR system management and optimization.
- License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Epic certification in relevant modules (e.g., EpicCare Ambulatory, EpicCare Inpatient) strongly preferred. Project management certification (PMP, Agile, etc.) is a plus.
- Proven track record of successfully managing complex EHR projects, upgrades, and optimization initiatives.
- Strong understanding of healthcare operations, regulatory compliance, and industry trends.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders, both technical and non-technical.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and tasks effectively.

General Description:
The Epic EHR Program Manager is an experienced and dynamic team member who will lead the management and execution of ongoing quarterly upgrades, optimization initiatives, and the overall 5-year Epic roadmap for our healthcare organization. The Epic EHR Program Manager will play a critical role in ensuring successful, continuous optimization of our electronic health record (EHR) system to support and enhance OU Health’s delivery of high-quality patient care, efficiency, and technological capabilities.
