      Overview

      The EPMO Project Manager serves as a project management expert, and leader of large scale, complex enterprise technical and/or operational projects. This role fulfills and key need by enabling and serving as a catalyst for change for the EPMO, the organization, patients, and families. This person will be accountable for creating plans using appropriate frameworks (e.g. PMI/waterfall, Agile), collaborating with multiple technical, clinical, and/or business stakeholders to create, maintain and manage plans, coordinate with vendors on external deliverables, manage issues/risks/decisions and associated mitigation plans, manage project budgets and deliver project objectives. This role has primary accountability for effectiveness and quality in delivery of project components, such as Charter/Scope and Project Schedules. The EPMO Project Manager collaborates with cross-functional teams to deliver complex project deliverables, including technical hardware and software, and supports organizational objectives to enhance the patient experience and clinical enterprise-wide projects. The role provides consultation, education and coaching on Project Management fundamentals, as well as report status to all levels of leadership as required. Also works with peers and leadership on continuous improvement efforts for project management tools, processes, and templates.

      Responsibilities

      Leadership:

      • Confident in leading others

      Project Management:

      • Determines appropriate project management framework and approach
      • Collaborates with stakeholders and creates quality, accurate, and complete Project documentation, including but not limited to charter/scope documents, schedules, communication plans, risk/issues, training plans, budget management, QA/test plans, status reports, and implementation (go-live) plans
      • Maintains, in collaboration with others as necessary, all deliverables required for project delivery
      • Collaborates with team members to deliver project objectives, including Technical and Clinical team resources, as well as internal and/or external stakeholders, clinical units, administrative units, procurement/purchasing, third party vendors, and suppliers
      • Independently plans, scopes, leads, facilitates, and implements high-complexity enterprise-level projects
      • Drives projects to completion within expected time frames overall; completes standard project documentation for all projects in a timely manner
      • Proactively identifies project delays and risks; effectively mitigates project delays and risks, including identification of key resources needed and organizational constraints
      • Creates project schedules and understands critical path and critical dependencies (successors and predecessors) within a project plan
      • Uses critical thinking skills to think through escalation paths and leadership involvement and communicates appropriately
      • Escalates to leadership with appropriate details in a timely manner
      • Facilitates meetings and manages expectations for the delivery of the project
      • Keeps project information and goals current to enable accurate dashboards/metrics and effectively measure progress and quality
      • Remains current in project management approaches, tools, processes, including certifications

      Communication / Relationships:

      • Consistently presumes "positive intent" in the perceived behaviors of others and seeks to resolve conflicts directly before involving superiors
      • Keeps customer needs and requirements at top of mind; customers include (but not limited to): patients/families, internal customers in various functional departments
      • Consistently demonstrates the following communication skills: active listening, building relationships based on trust and respect, setting clear priorities and clearly communicating them, enabling team collaboration through meetings and facilitation of electronic “connection points,” and conveying or re-directing the team to CMH’s mission and vision
      • Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships with colleagues and approaches conflict in a constructive manner helping to identify problems, offer solutions, and participate in their resolution

      Qualifications

      • Bachelor's Degree and 5-7 years experience Healthcare IT experience in hospital, ambulatory, or technology vendor preferred OR
      • High School diploma, or equivalent, and 7 or more years experience. Project Management experience; 9 years preferred
      • HIMSS Certification Preferred
      • Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or Agile certification Preferred

      Starting Pay

      Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $37.71/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

      Remote Work/Work from Home

      This is an intermittent remote position, which means that the person hired will work with his or her manager to determine a schedule that includes both at home and on-site hours at a Children’s Mercy location. The incumbent must live in the Kansas City metro area.
