Provides technical assistance and administrative support to the Equalization Division appraisal staff regarding the valuation of property for the development of the Assessment Roll. Provides courteous and effective customer service to the public regarding the assessment and taxation process. Performs calculations and checks appraiser field sheets on commercial and residential parcels before entering the data in the designated assessing software. Utilizing designated assessing software, draws digital sketches from appraiser drafts of a variety of building plots for assessment and taxation purposes. Assists appraisers in setting of assessed values on property due to splits and combinations of parcel descriptions, using assessed values, square footage figures and other departmental procedures. Uses semi-complex math to prorate assessed and taxable values to new parcels. Assists to update information in various computer systems used by the division, arranging and preparing data for input. Makes determinations regarding state-mandated qualifications for exemptions from Property Transfer Affidavits (PTA) and Principal Residence Exemption (PRE) Affidavits. Gathers, categorizes, labels, and prepares files for the annual record retention process. Utilizes current Countywide and/or department specific software to complete assignments.Applications will be rejected if the following information is not provided at the time of application:
1. Be a high school graduate or have a certificate of successful completion of the General Education Development (GED) Test.
2. Have had at least two (2) years of full-time customer service work experience assisting the public and using computer software programs.
NOTE: An Associate's degree or equivalent education from an accredited college or university may substitute for the experience requirement in 2 above.

Must obtain and maintain a Michigan Certified Assessing Technician (MCAT) Certification, or higher from the Michigan State Tax Commission within two (2) years in order to progress to the Assessing Technician Senior classification.About the company
