      Overview

      TransitAmerica Services, Inc. is currently seeking an Equipment Supervisor in Stockton, CA to join our team.

      The pay range for this position is $100,530 - $118,930.

      Duties and Responsibilities:

      *This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position.
      • Perform daily inspection of mechanical, electrical and pneumatic systems on the equipment.
      • Able to conduct both interior and exterior inspections on equipment as required by federal and state regulatory agencies as well as company implemented policies and procedures.
      • Prioritizes and complete repairs within scheduled allotted time in response to defects noted train crew daily inspection report.
      • Completes assigned repairs in an efficient and timely manner.
      • Proficient and safe use of basic hand tools including digital multimeters, pneumatic tools and test equipment.
      • Work is performed both individually and within a group.
      • Operates as certified locomotive engineer and conductor moving equipment within the service facility. Requirements to become a certified engineer and conductor include successful completion of on-the-job training, classroom training, driving record background search, DOT physical and drug screen.
      • Complete equipment inspection forms, work orders and time sheets.
      • Able to complete material requisitions including part numbers and descriptions.
      • Assists Manager of Equipment. Able to lead and mentor Maintainers, Service Maintainers, Utility Workers, and Cleaners.
      • Able to perform equipment downloads using a laptop computer.
      • Required to attend meetings, seminars and classes.
      • Assists employees in troubleshooting and diagnosing faults and failures on equipment.
      • Communicates with other departments within HTSI, agency staff, contractors, and subcontractors as required.
      • Schedules overtime work on equipment, assist with creating Equipment work scopes and create Monthly work orders for federal inspections.
      • Performs tool inventory and assists materials personnel on inventory.
      • Performs job briefings and maintenance turnover.
      • Updates federal regulatory forms.
      • Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
      • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
      • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
      • Oversee special projects and 3rd party work. Including following up on inspections, repairs, and contractor's work.
      • Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog's Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
      • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
      • Other duties as assigned.
      Qualifications:
      • High school diploma or equivalent.
      • 5+ years railroad mechanical maintenance experience.
      • 238/229 QMP qualified.
      • 240/242 MFO certificate preferred.
      • 101/201 PTC certification.
      • EPA 608 Type 2 or higher preferred.
      • Forklift Certified preferred.
      • Electrical experience in practice and theory is required.
      • Experience in troubleshooting and repair of electronic systems.
      • Understanding of rotating equipment and its uses for propulsion.
      • Knowledge of car and locomotive systems.
      • Knowledge and skill in the respect of air brake, mechanical, electrical systems.
      • Strong organizational, interpersonal, leadership and written communication and computer skills.
      • Ability to read, write and communicate proficiently.
      • Familiar with FRA, AAR and OSHA standards.
      • Knowledge of HVAC systems.
      • Demonstrated ability to teach in a classroom setting and hands-on.
      • Ability to read and understand equipment repair manuals, schematics, and drawings relative to maintenance, repair and troubleshooting.
      • Ability to transmit and receive directions clearly and accurately utilizing a two-way radio.
      • On call continuously for equipment emergencies.
      • Travel to multiple sites to oversee maintenance.
      • Ability to work flexible shifts, schedules, and overtime - including nights and weekends.
      Pre-Employment Requirements:
      • Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
      • Maintain a valid driver's license and endorsements as required per position.
      • Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position.
      • Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.
      Physical Requirements:

      The physical demands described below must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this role. This position will be physically demanding at times. This is a non-exhaustive overview of the physical requirements of this job.
      • Regularly lift weight up to 75 pounds to a height of up to 56 inches.
      • Regularly carry weight up to 75 pounds to a distance up to 100 feet.
      • Regularly push/pull up to 50 pounds for a distance up to 50 feet.
      • Regularly grasp or squeeze with forces up to 40 pounds.
      • Regularly ascend and descend a 10-step ladder with up to 25 pounds. Frequently climb on/off equipment.
      • Work in a confined access/space environment with a height of 12 inches and a width of 24 inches.
      • Regularly kneel, bend, squat while transferring up to 25 pounds of weight.
      • Regularly sit and stand for an extended period of time.
      • Able to walk on uneven surfaces up to 1 mile.
      • Regularly lay on back for extended periods of time.
      • Regularly reach overhead while holding tools.
      • Must be able to be aware of surroundings and follow verbal commands while being exposed to moderately loud noises on a daily basis.
      • Must be able to adapt to various temperature extremes including but not limited to heat, cold, moisture and wind.
      • Must be able to work in a safety sensitive work environment.
      • Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position.
      • Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals.
