The mission of the Department of Public Instruction:
The State Board of Education has the constitutional authority to lead and uphold the system of public education in North Carolina.
The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction is seeking applicants for an eRate Coordinator I position for our IT Infrastructure Division.
The IT Infrastructure Division provides IT services to support the business and its
efficient and effective operation. The primary purpose of this organizational is to support
the day-to-day operations and design and implement systems and strategies that
support the long term goals of the organization. The division provides the following
services to our customers: The NCDPI Support Center (central point of contact between
the state’s users and IT service management), Desktop Support, Systems and
Networking and the Connectivity/E-rate team. Members of this division work closely with
all other IT staff.
This position is responsible for providing eRate assistant across the state.
Network Consultancy
Employee provides LAN/WAN guidance to LEA’s, Charter Schools and state E-rate
Analysts.
Vendor Management
This position manages e-rate related contracts such as those that provide statewide Internet, content filtering and network consulting services.
Perform activities related to the E-Rate program as it relates to the K-12 School
Technology and to the NC School Connectivity Initiative, to include: E-Rate filing
processes, verification that the procurement process for E-Rate services is in
accordance with Schools and Library Division (SLD) rules and regulations and Program
Integrity Assurance (PIA), verification and documentation of orders and accuracy of
billing used in requests for reimbursement, assisting school districts and libraries
regarding E-Rate rules and regulations, providing status of E-Rate requests to K-12
Committee, attending technology meetings, and participation in weekly State E-Rate
coordinators Alliance (SECA) conference calls relative to the ongoing development of
the national E-Rate program.
Manage the projects, workload and quality of the service for the Connectivity team.

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or an IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution; or
Associate degree in computer science, or a related technical field from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of networking related experience; or
