      Basic Job Functions:

      The Sales Estimator’s primary responsibility is to maximize the long-term success of Nucor by efficiently performing accurate joist & deck takeoffs to create high-quality sales proposals, while also effectively communicating with engineers, customers, and teammates to develop value-added solutions. This position requires a high level of collaboration with the assigned sales office and taking an ownership role with the bid process is critical to ensure all work is completed in a timely manner.

      • Complete takeoffs from a list or bid information, use NuBid to provide complete and thorough takeoffs, communicate with customers/ engineers/ etc. for scope clarification.
      • Gain a foundational understanding of joist and deck, a basic knowledge of steel construction industry. Review and comprehend bid information thoroughly.
      • Recognize the need for a sales engineer review process, before or after an estimate, to aid in proper estimation. As well as recognizing the opportunities for value engineering options or specific customer requests.
      • Assess the Sales team's current estimating requirements and allocate time efficiently for each project to ensure timely completion of tasks.

      Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

      Minimum Qualifications:

      • High school diploma

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SAP, and NuBid
      • Two or more years of experience in the steel and/or construction industry
      • Experience reading structural drawings and project specifications, as well as a general understanding of the construction proces
      • Mobility for future advancement opportunities within Nucor
