      Description

      Summary: The Malibu Boats IT department is looking for a ETL & Data Warehouse Developer to join our growing team of experts to design and support our critical database infrastructure including ETL data integrations, data modeling, and aggregation to support Malibu’s ongoing data needs. The ideal candidate has a knack for seeing solutions in sprawling data sets and the business mindset to convert data into dimensional models adding strategic value for our company. They will ensure data accuracy and consistent reporting by designing and validating sources, processes, and procedures. The ideal candidate understands enterprise-scale DB deployments in real-time environments, as well as performance tuning, schema design, capacity planning, and monitoring. The right person for the job will apply their exhaustive knowledge of data to solving real-world problems faced by our company and finding opportunities for improvement across multiple projects, teams, and business units.

      Essential Duties and Responsibilities

      Responsibilities Time Allocation (Approximations Workload will vary week to week)

      • 50% ETL Development - Extracting Transforming Loading and Developing Data Integration Strategies
      • 40% Data Warehouse Dimensional Model Development - Building data models, cubes, etc. development.
      • 10% BI Dev - Business Intelligence / Dashboard / visualization development in PBI and SSRS and other visualization tools.

      ETL Developmental

      • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver solutions.
      • Designing and implementing data transformation logic to meet business rules and requirements.
      • Development of scalable and efficient ETL processes, data storage solutions, and data models
      • API end point development and Webhook integrations
      • Extracting data from diverse sources, including databases, APIs, and flat files.
      • Ensuring data integrity, quality, and consistency throughout the ETL process.
      • Cleaning, aggregating, and enriching data as needed.
      • Integrating data from various sources into fact and dimension models.
      • Monitoring and optimizing data loading processes for efficiency.
      • Loading transformed data into data warehouses or other target systems.
      • Identifying performance issues and Implementing optimizations to enhance overall system performance.

      Data Warehouse Development

      • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including analysts, and business users, to understand data needs and requirements.
      • Translating Business Requirements into a data warehouse data warehouse architecture, processes, and best practices.
      • Creating and maintaining data models to support business reporting and analytics.
      • Designing and architecting scalable and efficient data warehouse solutions.
      • Implementing data storage solutions for real-time or near-real-time data integration.
      • Writing complex SQL queries for data retrieval and analysis.
      • Providing support and expertise to end-users in utilizing the data warehouse.
      • Monitoring, tuning, and optimizing the performance and scalability of the data warehouse.
      • Creating and maintaining detailed documentation of data warehouse architecture, processes, and best practices.

      Dimensional Modeling

      • Collaborating with stakeholders to understand data needs and translating them into effective data models.
      • Developing and maintaining fact tables to support analytical reporting.
      • Designing reusable Dimension Tables for use to slice data by attributes and levels of granularity.
      • Designing and developing fact and dimension models based on business requirements.
      • Ensuring data integrity, consistency, accuracy, and the appropriate granularity within fact tables.
      • Implementing star schema or snowflake schema designs for optimal query performance.
      • Managing metadata associated with fact and dimension models.
      • Addressing any issues or discrepancies in collaboration with relevant teams.
      • Monitoring and tuning database performance related to fact and dimension models.
      • Conducting quality assurance checks on fact and dimension models to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
      • Providing expertise and support to other teams in understanding and utilizing the data models.
      • Data Integration: Optimizing data models for query performance and scalability.
      • Documenting data lineage, definitions, and relationships.

      Technologies in Use

      • Microsoft SQL server, ETL, MySQL, DB2, SharePoint, SSRS, SSIS
      • Custom APIs, Workato, Go Anywhere , HubSpot Qualtrics, FTP/SFTP
      • Red-Gate Data Tools

      • ERP Systems: Dynamics GP, Syteline, AS400, & Workwise

      Qualifications


      Critical Qualifications

      • Working knowledge of data mining principles: predictive analytics, mapping, collecting data from multiple data systems on premises and cloud-based data sources.
      • Strong SQL skills, ability to perform effective querying involving multiple tables and subqueries.
      • Experience building objects that source data with data visualization tools: Tableau, Power BI, chart.js, Microsoft SSRS/BIDS, etc. -- 3+ years
      • Understanding of and experience data integration solutions to standardize and conform datasets according to their intended operational or analytical uses.
      • Strong problem solving, quantitative and analytical abilities and willingness to constantly update knowledge.
      • Excellent communication and People skills, with the ability to engage diplomatically with stakeholders and communicate changes that may not be aligned with the original expectations.

      Preferred Qualifications

      • Preference for experience in manufacturing or similar industry
      • Familiarity with development requirements for publicly traded companies, including SOC2, ADA, ISO, PCI
      • MDX and Data Cube experience a plus
      • SharePoint experience a plus
      • Experience and knowledge of statistical modeling techniques: GLM multiple regression, logistic regression, log-linear regression, variable selection, etc.
      • Understanding of agile methodologies

      Education and/or Experience: 6 years of experience in Data and ETL Development with at least 3 years in a data integrations. Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

      Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

      Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

      Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
