Job Description

- Closely monitor economic developments and support formulation of economic outlook for Europe (e.g. forecast GDP growth, CPI inflation, interest rates, central bank policy).
- Conduct quantitative analysis, including maintaining and improving economic data monitoring tools as well as developing new models on macro variables.
- Support wider top-down research on the European insurance sector, namely assessing how the external macro environment affects the insurance sector outlook and formulating broader trends on insurance markets.
- Support Swiss Re's thought leadership research through conducting literature reviews, data analysis and written contributions to publications related to insurance economics (e.g. Swiss Re's European Economic Outlook quarterly report, Economic Insights, "Sigma" flagship publications).
- Support senior management in various tasks, including writing background notes and preparing high-quality visually appealing presentations for external clients, as well as support on some administrative tasks.
- In the process of soon completing or already successfully completed a Masters level university degree in Economics or Finance, as well as some prior related work experience or internship in economics/finance.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Strong analytical skills, including ideally econometric and programming skills in one of the major programs (e.g. R, Stata, Matlab, Python)
- Ability to break down, communicate and visualize often complex concepts in an easy and digestible way. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are required.
- Highly motivated with a "can-do" attitude and willingness to learn (e.g. learn new tools like Macrobond), showing high degree of own proactiveness, as well as agility to multi-task in a dynamic work environment.

In this role at Group Economic & Sigma Research, you will actively contribute to the formulation of Swiss Re's macroeconomic forecasts and analyze how the external macro environment affects insurance markets in Europe.

About the Team
The European Research team is a sub-team within Group Economic & Sigma Research (GESR) and is part of the wider Swiss Re Institute. The GESR department is responsible for analysing and forecasting the macroeconomic and insurance market environment, which feeds into Swiss Re's business steering decisions and thought leadership research. The department is located across geographies, is highly visible and interacts with a wide variety of stakeholders across Swiss Re and externally.
About You
