      Summary:
      This position is responsible for managing all aspects of set-up, maintenance and breakdown of special events and group outings.

      Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
      • Managing activities related to the set-up, operation and tear-down of special events and group events:
      o All aspects of event set-up and breakdown
      o Coordinate staffing all aspects of the event including set-up, tear-down, and support during events
      o Provide staff for all support areas during events including cleanliness, restroom attendants, bar and kitchen support, and greeting
      o Maintain appearance, condition, and cleanliness of all equipment and facilities used for events and report repair needs to appropriate personnel
      o Inventory all equipment and supplies needed for events and make purchases as needed
      o Coordinate proper storage of event equipment and transport of equipment from storage areas to event spaces and vice versa
      • Hiring, training, scheduling, and development of event operations personnel
      • Establishing and maintaining safety protocols for all department activities, facilities, and equipment
      • Preparing and managing the department budget
      • Developing checklists for events, projects, and training, including those related to stage logistics and maintenance
      • Planning the logistics of upcoming events, including detailed set up, staffing, and tear down plans using schedules and checklists
      • Communicating events plans, needs, and schedules to department supervisors and staff
      • Communicating effectively and professionally with other event support departments and vendors
      • Developing ongoing special project plans for special event areas
      • Working events as schedules and operations dictate, including those at night and on weekends
      • Establishing and maintaining professional relationships and open communications with other departments and vendors, including those directly involved in the planning and execution of events
      • Maintaining knowledge of the Fort Worth Zoo layout and group event operations
      • Monitoring employee, time, attendance, and overtime and compiling monthly labor transfer reports for all events
      • Assisting other departments as needed

      Supervisory Responsibilities:
      Demonstrates leadership of employees through ongoing training to include applicable laws, Zoo policies, business conduct and ethics and the provision of quality services to guests and employees supporting the highest level of program integrity.
      • Provide effective direction, supervision, and evaluation of staff; provide ongoing coaching/guidance
      • Plan, direct, coordinate the work plan for staff; assign work activities, and projects; continuously review and evaluate methods and procedures
      • Select, hire, train, motivate and evaluate assigned personnel; provide or coordinate employee training; work with subordinate employees to correct deficiencies and resolve problems
      • Monitor work environment of staff; participate in the review, investigation and implementation of discipline and termination procedures in conjunction with human resources
      • Communicate information to staff as appropriate

      Qualifications:
      To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
      • Must be 18 years of age or older
      • Supervisory experience required
      • Requires working during events including nights and weekends
      • Possess intermediate mechanical ability
      • Possess basic knowledge in computer operation
      • Valid driver license with acceptable motor vehicle record to maintain zoo standards of insurability

      Education and/or Experience:
      • 1-3 years experience in event set up or related management
      • Good communications skills
      • Must possess problem solving skills

      Physical Demands:
      While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
